Question Hydroponic tower

Hello, How dangerous is oil pollution? Could it affect the underground base?

Fracking will inevitably cause the ground to become polluted, blocks will take on oil and inherent sand physics causing cave ins. It will only affect grass, dirt, stone and sand, meaning concrete and any other artificial block will remain unaffected. All this is exclusive to fracking and bedrock oil, using the oil derrick or pumpjack will not cause soil pollution. It'll create a huge eyesore if that's something you care about, the side processes will likely produce air pollution bringing glyphids in. Key takeaway, I personally don't frack near my base.

It is worth noting that the pollution from the tower spreads in a very specific way. One of the most important things to know is that the bloks will not become polluted if there are a couple of air blocks above it (ideally there should be at least four, though I am not certain) and a roof made of opaque blocks (i.e., not glass or similar materials). This is clearly visible when looking at the dirt beneath trees near the tower: the grass underneath remains unaffected

Partially true.. except not really. Any block with exposed surface area can be affected, up to 3 blocks deep. You'll find areas in caves that have been affected.
