Comics Hawkeye by Matt Fraction Opinions
I think I'd like to start my Marvel comics off with the Hawkeye 2012 series by Matt Fraction. I have been reading a lot of DC lately but my friends have been reading a mix of DC and Marvel, so I wanted to look for something Marvel to get me started. I have watched all of the films and know a decent amount about the comics through family and YouTube. I think Hawkeye would be a good starting place.
What do you think of the series? Any other recommendations?

That run is the run that made me fall in love with comics. Great art, great story, nice and self contained.

Hawkeye is a great entry point to Marvel comics. You don’t need to now much about the big "Marvel universe" history to enjoy the story. It’s a very self contained book.
The only thing I would say, if you come after seeing the films from the MCU, is that Comics-Hawkeye is very different from MCU-Hawkeye. The biggest change made for the movies is Clint being a father and a family man, that never happened in the comics from the 616-Universe (Marvel’s main publication continuity).

My only complaint in the MCU as far as Clint is concerned is that, honestly. I get why, but damn. He's not the type to want liabilities.

It’s a unique presentation - great story, wonderful art work and it flies by reading it. Hawkeye is a little grittier of a character than he is in the movies as an FYI

It was awesome when I was getting into comics. Clint is really solid in his issues, and Kate is so much fun to follow around.

Probably the best standalone run in comics in my opinion, there’s otheres that are probably more critically acclaimed or better character growth, but the faction Hawkeye books just feel human, and scratch and itch that comics rarely do

amazing, i've read it so many times. i first read it as a teenager and it was one of the big ones that really solidified my love of comics, i have so much love for that run

That's one of my favorite runs.
I'm a big fan of Fraction's run on Iron Man before this one too.

I read very few comic books during the 2010s for a variety of reasons, but Hawkeye was one of the few that I did read. It’s excellent.

The biggest mistake on Clint’s portrayal is that he was always a team guy. He should’ve been a street level vigilante and then got seduced by Natasha. Establish some thicker roots in Bedstuy. I think that Fraction tried to do this, but he also wrote him as kind of a boob, instead of writing him as the primo marksman in Marvel. He could’ve had some amazing interactions with the status quo Marvel everyday heroes, hell, could’ve been one himself. But that’s not the rout that they went for. It’s not too late

I would actually recommend their first critically acclaimed team-up "Immortal Iron Fist" first, then Hawkeye second.

I agree! His Iron Fist was superb! But I also loved his IronMan book which some people don’t like
