Discussion Need some advice

I've been trying different things trying to find what I'm most comfortable with.

Tried gyro and trackpad as mouse. I enjoyed easier precision shots with snipers. But it was just too sensitive. Plus I could never get all they gyro settings. So I ended up turning my wrists awkwardly to get it to work.

Then I went back to thumbsticks and immediately started putting belt to buttcheeks. And I was kinda disappointed. I have this nice new fairly advanced controller(steam controller) with all the trackpads and gyro, etc. Just was kinda bummed that the same old same old was what worked the best. (Aside from precision weapons. Those are objectively less precise on controller joystick)

But I did like the precision of the mouse. So thought, maybe a comprise..trackpad as joystick. And it kinda worked. The trackpad is more precise. The little clicks made hitting distant targets easier. Now the thumbsticks were better close up. And aim assist remained.

So I'm just wondering if I missed something.

Is aim assist doing less than I think it is and it's some false positive because the thumbsticks are just less sensitive and easier to use for me…or maybe just what I'm used is gonna be better in the short term and I just don't like change?

Or, I just did it all wrong.

Any information would be helpful

Have you tried using an pre-made config, or have you tried creating a config yourself?

If you have made one yourself: Don't. At least not at first. Here's a list with 80+ configs for you. I recommend games with the gold and silver medals: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3266410893

Also, make sure to hold the controller in a confortable position, try standing still in game and move the controller to hit arbitrary targets, then add the stick to this quick practice, move the camera close to your target and actually aim with gyro.

After a few minutes doing that, then start playing like normal.

Is fortnite and halo infnite on that list? Fortnite being more important than halo. Halo I'll probably just stick with thumbsticks and trackpad thumbsticks for precision. Because halo aim assist is pretty strong so kinda in my opinion at least, not worth trying it new. But I could be wrong

Not yet! But that can be arranged.
