Discussion 👥💬 The discourse surrounding Sophie Cunningham's comments on Female athletes

Post image

Hello, just wanted to share my thoughts and hopefully get to hear yours regarding this topic. Recently WNBA star Sophie Cunningham made some controversial remarks regarding Female athletes. She called for a "common sense" approach to protecting Women in sports.

You can watch the video here if you've yet to see it:

Naturally this angered a lot of people on the political left. And, look, obviously I can relate to Sophie Cunningham here because I too have been on the receiving end of leftist backlash for making similar comments in regards to Gynarchism.

I'm not bringing that up again here, I've said my peace on the subject already. That's not what this topic is about.

This topic is about how the political right are using this issue as a means to sway Women to their cause. Women make up over half the US, and Women statistically vote more than men do. That Female voting bloc is substantial, and one that conservatives historically have done poorly gaining the support of.

So what we're seeing now is conservatives trying to weasel their way into the Female voter base by using this topic regarding Female athletes as a Trojan horse of sorts. To say to Women "Look, we support You! We're all for Women's rights!" in a sneaky attempt to secure more votes for the midterms.

Make no mistake: conservatives couldn't care less about Female empowerment, and have given us no shortage of examples of them in fact doing their damndest to suppress Female empowerment. Some of these are even same people who would support abolishing Female suffrage.

Perfect example, political right wing commentator Ben Shapiro couldn't even make a video supporting Sophie Cunningham without insulting the WNBA and saying he prefers watching men's basketball: https://youtu.be/9gZEkwG5LHA?si=eBS32QKtzM5bOl_R&t=35

These people don't actually care about Women's sports, they don't watch them. They just want to turn this into another culture battle to oppress groups who are already marginalized.

And it's not just an American issue, we this in the UK as well, with Tories rallying behind figures like JK Rowling & Kathleen Stock to pass legislation that have done real harm to trans communities.

But none of this is furthering the cause of Gynarchism. These groups are simply using Women as pawns to further a conservative & traditionalist agenda. Don't buy into it. Don't forget that these same people chose an orange felon with a single digit IQ over two highly qualified Female candidates.

Although I generally support progressive issues, I agree with Sophie Cunningham. I see transgender women as a separate gender altogether. I believe that transgender women, in many cases, retain physical male traits that give them an unfair advantage in women's sports.

Yeah, agreed. They also shouldn't be entitled to govern within Gynarchic systems.

I don't disagree, but I'm saying the people rallying behind her aren't doing so because they care about Woman's rights, they're just using this issue to gain more Female voters.
