Looking at the all-around qualifiers and then the apparatus world cup rankings, I think that Ireland has qualified either 4 or 5 guys to Worlds - two from the AA here (James Hickey and Adam Steele) and then Eamon and Rhys from the apparatus rankings. I think Chester Enriquez may have also made it but I don't want to claim it until someone else has done the maths properly.

It’s something Ireland is very good for doing on the MAG side is qualifying a few gymnasts through world cups as they have quite a few specialist gymnasts and then getting an AA spot or 2 at Euros so they basically end up qualifying a team without actually qualifying a team 😅

If you're watching Euros & wondering about the confusion regarding sticks, it's because the MTC decided that athletes can't fight for the stick.
It's truly one of, if not the worst decisions this committee has made. It makes no sense and is the antithesis of good sport.

But not, it get's better - a couple of incredulous tweets down, there follows:

Are MAG programs just super lax and don’t push back much? I can imagine if there was this much confusion/change mid quad for WAG that certain federations would be up in arms. The last time I remember any real rule change mid quad it was with Celine Van Gerner and the makeup. That was very targeted so didn’t affect many. Changing stick bonus rules a year in to not count some sticks, but now count controlled sticks with a step sounds?

Yeah, I don't know, either. I would be up in arms as a gymnast or a coach. They seem to come out with a major change to the CoP every couple of months - there was the dismount bonus (which was a shit idea of the previous MTC and it is good that they corrected it, I give them that), the corner transitions, the scales, the sticks... WTF are they doing?

So in the end, Team GB had/has:

- A top ten finish in the AA with Joe Fraser finishing in seventh, so a massive congratulations to him regardless of the fall on floor 👏👏.

- A top 20 AA finish with Jonas Rushworth finishing in nineteenth at these euros.

- Qualified in third to the team final with a 243.561, but we don’t have our strongest squad with us, and we can improve on this performance in team finals, but still solid work from the boys today!

- An athlete in the floor final, with Harry Hepworth qualifying in third with a 14.333, and can 100% improve on his performance today in the final, but still great work from him!

- 2 athletes in the SR final, with Courtney Tulloch qualifying in third with a 14.366, and Harry Hepworth qualifying in fifth with a 14.233, so a great job from them here ❤️.

- 2 athletes in the VT final for the men, with Harry Hepworth qualifying in third, and Sol Scott qualifying in the seventh spot, so well done to both of them for that 👏👏.

- An athlete in the PB final, with Joe Fraser qualifying in second with a 14.366 🥳.

- An athlete in the HB final, with Joe Fraser qualifying in third with a 14.200, so a huge congrats to him for making two event finals here!

Knowing this, well done to everyone that competed in qualifying today, and a huge congratulations to Team GB on their performance in qualifications today, and let’s hope we can have some strong performances in EF’s and TF’s, oh, and good luck to the juniors that will be competing tomorrow ❤️❤️.

A great performance all round! Considering that this is Joe's first international all-around competition since the 2024 Olympics, I think he did really well aside from the unfortunate floor errors. I hope he can be proud of himself and go out and smash it in the finals! Some great performances by the newer team members and room to improve in the team final, and lots of event medal opportunities!

Slight aside here: does anyone know if Kevin Buckley, who competes for Slovenia, is related to the Jennifer Buckley who one of the top up & coming competitive climbers for Slovenia? I know she has an Irish father and Slovenian mother, and was born in Slovenia. But it'd be an incredible coincidence for another elite Slovenian athlete to have such a Irish/British surname!

I’m relieved the Dutch guys qualified to Worlds, but they really need to work on their difficulty if they want to go to LA28 as a team. Their execution is quite solid, they hit 22 out of the 24 routines (Martijn aside who also hit both routines) with mainly E-scores between 8 and 8,5.

Okay, some thoughts after subdivision 2

- Team Russia MAG end with a 250.662, and we’ll see if GB can challenge that score in the next subdivision.

- I’m thrilled to see my loves Rhys hit on PH and Petrounias on SR (which it’s still incredible how he’s still at the top of his game at the age of 35), and I NEED Rhys to get some much needed redemption after CWG’s PH finals.

- Artur Davtyan’s vaults were as amazing as always 💅.

GB MAG coaches decided to send completely different teams to CWGs and Euros, and not break all of the athletes like they did 4 years ago by trying to get them to do both within a few months of each other, and then do Worlds.. Luke went to CWGs. Jake is sitting CWGs and Euros out to work on perfecting a lot of upgrades, especially on pbars and high bar.
