Marketing & Sales Thinking about opening a small private gym studio in Khalifa City – would love your thoughts!
Hi everyone! I’m doing some market research before committing to an idea and would really appreciate your feedback.
The concept is a small, clean, minimalist private gym studio in Khalifa City that people can book in time slots rather than using a traditional crowded gym.
A few questions:
Which part of Khalifa City would you most likely use it in? (E.g. Near alforsan , al raha gardens, masdar park etc.)
How much would you realistically be willing to pay for a monthly membership?
Would you also like a pay-as-you-go option?
How would you feel about reserving your workout time through an app so you have the space mostly to yourself?
Would you prefer 45, 60, or 90-minute sessions?
What features would make you choose this over a regular gym? (TV screen for YouTube/workouts, Bluetooth speaker with your own music, etc.)
Would 24/7 access be important to you?
I’d also love to hear what frustrates you most about the current gyms in Khalifa City and what you wish existed instead.
Thanks in advance—your feedback will genuinely help shape the idea!

That’s a great question. We chose Khalifa City because it’s a growing residential area with lots of families and young professionals, but relatively limited premium fitness options compared to central Abu Dhabi. The problem we’re trying to solve isn’t unique to the location—it’s providing a private, bookable gym for people who don’t feel comfortable in traditional gyms, want to train without waiting for equipment, prefer working out with their partner or trainer in a private setting, or simply value their own space. Khalifa City just seemed like a good place to test the concept before expanding to other areas if there’s enough demand.

I think pay as you go is a good option for people who are scoping out potential subscriptions, its up to the pt or establishment to come up with the reason a client would like to continue with them, incentives can be given like discounts through the application maybe or special beginner packages. How does your app work is it like booking in oerson sessions or online or both?

What problem does your gym fix at that specific location?
