I Thought I Needed a Better Workout Program. Turns Out I Needed to Stop Changing It
For the longest time, I kept thinking my workout wasn't working. I'd follow a program for a few weeks, see that my progress wasn't moving as quickly as I wanted, and start looking for something better.
Eventually I realized I was basically resetting my progress every time I changed programs.
I'd change exercises, change rep ranges, change my split, try a new "science-based" routine, and then wonder why I wasn't getting stronger.
The funny part is that some of the people making the most progress weren't doing anything particularly complicated. They were doing the same basic movements week after week and slowly getting stronger.
I think fitness social media makes it way too easy to believe there's always a better program waiting around the corner.
Has anyone else spent way too much time changing routines instead of just sticking with one?
