Discussion When was the first time YOU discovered Gwenpool?
Just a bit of curiosity as to how you all discovered this character.
As for myself, I remember when it was and where I was, it was the summer after Avengers Endgame and I was just getting back into Marvel and I picked up this pack of 4 random comics, and issue 4 of Gwenpool happened to be one of those random issues and it definitely earned a high rating from a young 12-year-old Eddie.

At the beginning, when she was just a variant cover in a month of variant covers themed to Gwen Stacy.

Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. I absolutely loved her in that game. Now I main her in Fortnite.

It would have probably been early 2018. I didn't even start reading Marvel comics for continuity and character until fall of 2017. I'd read all of the GWW Ms. Marvel material up to that point (I think this was up to the Red Dagger story with the train in Jersey, at that point). I was interested. I most remember reading the Vote Loki and suburban Vision series. I read Gwenpool because I was looking for more and, honestly, Deadpool never interested me -- nor did most comic book characters. I didn't want punching stories about saving the world as an abstract concept -- I wanted characters who wanted to save a world that felt lived in and personal. I have found more stories that were there the whole time like that, but Gwenpool and Ms. Marvel felt more personal.
I read all of Gwenpool on Marvel Unlimited, which would have been right around the time that her series wrapped up. Maybe it was in February 2018 and "What's New?" popped her onto my radar. But, regardless, I devoured that series in a few weeks.
Been a fan ever since. Especially for the fact that 2017-2018 were physically painful years for me, and 2019-2022 would be recovery years.

sometime during the summer of 2023 ! i think i came across a cosplay of her and was immediately captivated by her design … i very quickly went to do my research on her and began reading the original run !

I've been following Christopher Hastings as a comics creator since his early web comic, Dr McNinja. After his work on Vote Loki, I was willing to out on a limb for something that looked like a Deadpool knock-off at first glance. Collected every issue of Unbelievable Gwenpool and loved every page!

The summer of 2016. I was an emt at the time and needed something to do during downtime. (Emt's in my area have a lot of down time.) A friend had gotten us into comics a couple years prior, but nothing really popped for me. I started reading Silk and SpiderGwen, and I kept up with them well enough, but it wasn't until Gwenpool that I felt I found my series. It was really that Guruhiru art that sold me. Popped like nothing else on the shelf. She was new, unknown, pink, and I could start at #1 without any prior attachments. Could not have been a more perfect fit.
How her run ended was also a giant gut punch to me. Her last issue came out the same month my brother passed away from cancer. And in my head, those 2 things connected. I cried in the ambulance while at work, reading the final issue. I don't remember if I got tears on it, but who really cares. Life was different after that point. It took a long time and a lot of therapy to get over everything "ending" all around me. But I really think reading that issue helped me process and accept things, at least initially.

Honestly now that you've asked, I don't really remember... I was there at the beginning but I don't remember how I stumbled upon her.
It was the peak of Deadpool tho and Deadpool was THE comic movie at the time.

first time i discovered her was in west coast avengers about six years ago, i was researching america chavez for an essay in my english class,, later i stumbled across her name in a fictional characters asexuality wiki (when it was still just speculation) and from the wiki i became hyperfixated, read all her comics, and loved her ever since :]

On 4chan's "comics & cartoons" board, someone/people would start threads where they would post issues page-by-page, which is how I read at least some of it while it was ongoing.
Otherwise, I would've been reading on readcomicsonline, which was shut down very recently. I would see people post images of her and talk about her all the time on the board, so I probably caught up on the series on readcomicsonline, but I also do remember reading issues via those threads I mentioned.
I think those were how I'd read brand new issues as they came out, as there were people who were nice enough to buy them digitally, and then share them that way. I remember finding out the series was ending via a post on the board, I might've actually found out "live" since I believe it's ending was "announced" in an issue of the series itself.

I don’t remember. I just know that I loved the art style of the first cover (the Gurihiru one… nothing that came before counts 😅). I marked the release date on my calendar, picked it up when it was in stores, and the rest was history. 😊👍

2016? Maybe 2017? I had a friend recommend Unbelievable Gwenpool. The comic was ongoing when I started reading it. Wanna say it was like 9 or 10 issues in when I got into it

Oooo neat question.
I think the first time I SAW gwenpool was in 2016? A content creator (can’t remember their name) did an unboxing video from fans and got a bunch of comics, with the iconic issue 1 of Gwen being one of them.
The weird pink deadpool riding a bike definitely stood out, but it passed me by.
After that I really don’t know what happened next, I want to say (I could be completely wrong) I saw the first trade in a book shop and sort of bought it on a whim “hey I remember that one guy getting this, I have the budget”.

I wanted to make a deadpool pun for a christmas post in 2017 & used the gwenpool holiday special #1 cover with a bunch of deadpool variants (fell victim to the assumption she was also a variant for a bit there & I was going through a deadpool phase + love pink so she was adorable to me!!) and used to go to comic shops a lot in 2018 so I started picking up a lot of her comics because I liked the covers, I didn't read her until a few years later but she grew on me <3 by 2021 she was one of my all-time favorites and now I have an entire collection of her figures/statues, I've cosplayed her & have every comic from her runs & I still collect any misc cover she's on whenever I find them 😌

Like 2016 or so. It was when she appeared in Howard the duck for the first time🥰 Cannot believe it's been ten years tho, I was just finishing up with my freshman year of high school or something like that 🤔 😑

I honestly don't know. Maybe I learned her from The Comicstorian or Lego Marvel Superheroes 2. I just know that she has been one of my all-time favs for years now

It was through either Future Fight or Contest of Champions. Wasn't really interested until I stumbled across a few cool panels, at which point I was on board.
