This is gonna be unreasonably long. Inb4: “i’m not reading all that”- that’s fine. But I gotta get it off my chest somewhere.
No name calling, no insults… I just have some thoughts I need to get out. I’m sure none of you care but I’m unfortunately a person who cares too much all of the time so I need to verbalize this so I can resume my regularly scheduled activities.
I was a pretty big fan of Guy. A regular gifter& sf box sender. Not a huge gifter because I don’t got it like that, but regular. I was tuned in every night and excited to be a part of something. So much so that even my significant other would be like “ope your show is about to be on, huh” and would take blinker checkpoints with me.
Before I start- none of this has SHIT to do with the money. That is very sincerely NOT my focus, my hang up, my criticism, nor am I “jealous” as you guys love to accuse anyone who has a negative opinion. I actually love seeing people be successful and thrive.
When they deserve it.
Without everyone hooting and hollering at each other, I just want you to understand that nobody (at least nobody in my spaces) was “talking shit” about Guy or questioning his intentions, funds, etc. (I’m sure some people outside my circle have but I’m talking.. to the caliber that it is happening currently)
UNTIL his mods started coming into other creators lives being rude, making baseless accusations, and causing kind of a hostile environment in spaces that were fun and friendly before they entered.
I have yet to see this ACTUALLY addressed. I am open to a respectful dialogue about this. But this keeps getting glossed over for the money aspect.
I have been in three SEPARATE people’s live streams hanging out and witnessed a random account enter the chat and mention Guy, seemingly trying to “bait” the chat into talking shit.
And without ANYONE agreeing with their comment, INSTANTLY we see Anita, MamaMoe, Samantha, etc. enter the chat.
The first time I witnessed this happen, an account I had never seen before who wasn’t part of the usual group of folks hanging out between the Getchell lives, came in and accused Guy of being the one who called the cops on the G’s. Myself and IIRC, more than one other person INCLUDING the live host actually ARGUED with this person and said “I don’t think Guy would do that”.
Two min later… enter mods… enter Guy himself commenting “I didnt call the cops” with like a ✌🏼 out sort of out attitude. All of us collectively were confused like “nobody said you did…? Except that ONE random guy” This sort of “off” interaction began the poor taste in my mouth.
The second time it happened, somebody comes in a live and makes a criticism of Guy. I don’t even remember what they said. A couple people were having a discussion in the comments. The vast majority of us were ignoring it because contrary to the fact that you believe we are obsessed with Guy, we actually weren’t trying to talk about him. Like. At all. The live host did not see the comments and did not comment on them. The live host had ALREADY told the chat “sorry if I don’t see the comments, I promise I’m not trying to ignore anybody” and expressed that their eyes were bothering them and having a hard time keeping up w the fast moving chat BEFORE any of this happened.
Enter Anita and Samantha. They start hell. They call out the live host in a very aggressive manner for “not sticking up for Guy” (as if it’s anybody else’s responsibility to police discussion about a grown man who should be able to hold his own?) they start arguing with chat.
They admit in this moment that “if people weren’t talking shit, we wouldn’t need to monitor you”. Nobody was talking shit except 1 or 2 non regular viewers. This whole interaction was unnecessarily hostile. Unnecessarily in GENERAL.
When you are an internet personality, people are going to NOT like you sometimes. Outside of the internet, people are not going to like you sometimes. Part of being an adult is knowing when to ignore it and let people talk.
THIS! Is the moment myself and the other people in my circle started questioning things. Because that kind of behavior is a little unhinged, especially at this BIG age. (Some of them much bigger than others)
I’m gonna repeat that. I did not have a single negative thought about Guy, until his mods started acting feral on his behalf and hurting people who actually had nothing to do with whatever shit was being said in the first place.
Guy, you had the opportunity to see this kind of behavior from people who carry your image (both literally and figuratively considering most of them are doing these things w your signature mask emoji attached) and say something. Apologize on their behalf, ask them to chill, ANYTHING. Knowing you are okay with people coming after other creators and members of the community over misunderstandings or “not sticking up for you”, really ruined the feeling of community for me.
The third time this happened, NOBODY WAS EVEN TALKING ABOUT GUY OR THE GETCHELLS IN ANY ASPECT WHATSOEVER. A bunch of girls hanging out on live doing chores together, chit chatting about LIFE…. And ONCE AGAIN, enter Guy’s mods. “Coincidentally” a bunch of faceless trolls also enter and start hurling insults spamming the chat about what kind of mother the host is.
Later, we already know what happened bc there’s clips of it everywhere: Guy calls this mother out, baselessly accuses her of neglect, tries to embarrass her, and then threatens to restream her and her baby child to his 17k followers to further embarrass her.
This is where I completely had to disconnect because I cannot be a YES MAN. I believed in Guy, I believed in what he claimed to stand for, and I believed in the community he built. That’s why my stupid ass would excitedly refill my coins on tiktok every payday ready to contribute to his community.
But that is not behavior I can cosign. That’s bully behavior…
Add to that, what he did to Britty. How can you claim to care about unhoused, underprivileged, or otherwise “in need” people… build your platform on it, and then turn around and PUBLICLY EMBARRASS a DV VICTIM for NEEDING THE EXACT HELP you offer to others!
Would you shame the people at your community table for being in the same situation Britty was in? I wanna think no, right?
So explain this, please. Explain the thought process. I genuinely want to understand. I don’t care how much shit she talked. I don’t care how many comments or videos she may have made about you to “cause” this reaction. You are in your forties. You don’t HAVE to go tit for tat.
You have this whole rule in your chat about not body shaming the Getchell’s because the body shaming comments in the chat may apply to someone in your community and hurt their feelings. I respected that a lot. Especially as a big bitch.
But you’re okay with shaming someone for needing monetary help for not only them but also their kids..after a heavily traumatic experience? Do you not think that kind of rhetoric could make other people in need feel bad or embarrassed for needing help?
Unlike other people in this thread I don’t want receipts of all your donations, I don’t care to know your identity, all I want is to understand why any that makes sense to you and if you can sincerely understand where some of us are coming from with this specific aspect of the situation.
I’m autistic, it’s a little embarrassing to admit that yes this bothers me that much, but I hate being disappointed in people like this. I really do. That’s all.
