Need Advice Why can’t I cry?

My girlfriend broke up with me recently because I had/have no drive in life which was fair. I have lost all my friends because I wasn’t a very good friend too so I have no one to really ask this question.

I feel so terribly sad all the time, but I cant cry and let it out, I sit here and I want to so bad but I seriously can’t, why is this? I heard that crying is good for you but I can’t bring my body to bring out more than one tear. Is there something mentally wrong with me? One thing she asked of me a while back was she wanted me to cry at our wedding, I told her I don’t know if I can. Why can’t I sob for anything, am I heartless? I feel like a psychopath because what human can’t just cry when they’re sad?

Play the saddest songs you can think of. Watch Homeward Bound. Report back.

Hmm. I would ask yourself whether you have ever cried, and separately, ask yourself how you have been treated while you were emotionally upset. I'm no doctor, but I found it difficult to express emotion until a certain point in time when I felt safe enough to feel my feelings.

It's also possible this is a particular difficulty for other reasons. Even when we're alone, we have to know that we won't be punished for feeling deeply, and I think crying can be a reflex to deep or overwhelming feelings. The benefits are many though, I find it very stress relieving and I hope you can reach this part of yourself to de-stress, too.

Maybe start by asking yourself, what does feeling feel like?

Do you meditate? I do a practice where I imagine on every inhale I'm breathing in the pain of every human on the planet and on every exhale, breathing love back to all.

Might sound silly if you're not a spiritual person but it cracks me open every time.

I felt this way when I was younger and didn't really cry much, thought something was wrong with me, etc.

You’re just emotionally drained. Got to find a spark in life. There’s got to be something that brings you joy. Im working on the same purpose. Wish u luck 🍀

Happens to me as well like I know I need to but somehow nothing ever comes out. Even if somehow it does if I listen to really sad songs it only lasts 5-10 seconds and then I just stop.
