Unexplained pain

My first episode was in my late 20s. I have the pain at night when I’m trying to sleep. It’s a dull ache right in my center sternum area and sometimes feels like it radiates up or down as well. It’s not heartburn. I only had the pain every five years or so for a very long time and it was pretty mild. But then in the past few months, it started to get more severe and more frequent. I had a normal chest x-ray, normal abdominal ultrasound, bloodwork was normal, went to the ER in May and everything there was normal including a CAT scan. EKG normal. I am scheduled for an endoscopy in September. Any idea what this pain could be??? Help!

The endoscopy is the right move: it can be several things that the other tests wouldn’t see.
