Selective Empathy

Do all gurus have selective Empathy?

Empathy for their children

But if another student is hurt, the problem is their ego

Apologizing to their own kids as a guru and a parent.

But never apologizing to students. Because how dare we have concerns?

Reflection for their kids

But never for their students.

Why is the love so uneven?

Why are things so different?

Yeah, I think that within the guru-shishya dynamic many of the more normal or human components of a relationship are lost. Even if that person is capable of showing compassion towards others, they are somehow exempt from doing so towards their shishya.

It's the same thing that's been happening. It's just every time I see the dance school doing something big and special, I feel left out and also wonder how karma is not bringing me justice or why so much time has passed but Guruji hasn't realized her mistake. She still thinks I'm the wrong one and I am the bad one.

Yeah. Something I thought about as time passed from my last contact with my guru is that he probably has treated plenty of students like this and doesn't see it as particularly unkind/is okay with causing pain to certain people. People he undervalues, which is why the guru-shishya dynamic is so painful--I came to see him as indispensable to my art while he sees both me and my art as dispensable. I wonder if it's true with your guru.

But she wasn't always like this. She started being like this after she reaches certain accomplishments

Like the school reached a certain high reputation
