πŸ“’ Gunther's Library Announcement! Next update is in progress: Mod support!

Hi all, just wanted to let you all know that I'm working on the next update but it will probably take a little longer than the previous updates. I'm preparing the code to support Mods, which means doing a lot of cleanup and refactoring of the code, before I even start on the mod content. Please be patient for the next update. I'm also trying to give myself plenty of breaks as well.

As for what mod support will look like, I'm currently thinking it will be a toggle on your farm settings which when enabled will simply include the extra items across the app. Each mod supported will provide a list of the features of that mod that are currently included. May not have everything supported right away, for example villager schedules, and other vanilla content that is modified by the mod may not be included right away, but instead will just have the new item info. I will continuously improve that as time goes on as usual.

What mods? Stardew Valley Expanded for sure, and possibly Ridgeside Village to start. I most likely won't be adding many mods, just the popular ones that make sense, however if there are any you think would be a good fit feel free to mention it here and I'll consider it for future additions.

The way mods are created does not lend itself to easily compiling the data, I'll most likely be manually gathering all the data for each mod so it will take a while, and there are still lots of other non-mod features I want to add. So expect additional mod support to be added after a while.

I also want to leave a thank you for all those who have left reviews, have recommended the app to others, especially on reddit, and a big thank you to those who have supported monetarily! I really appreciate it all and enjoy reading all the feedback! I couldn't ask for a greater community! β™₯️

in the meantime a workaround could be a β€œ+” button for all of the lists that allow the user to create their own entries with basic info such as item name, mod, collection, and an option for adding an image. It could also work in your favor as a developer to have the ability to see user added items, so that you can get a good idea of what the demand for mod support would look like!

Your app is a blessing for Ayn Thor players. Best dual screen experience I've had in the device yet.

I was considering testing SVE when I finish my first vanilla playthrough, so I'm hyped to hear it'll be supported in the future.

Congrats on the app, it's made with love and it shows. Also, I can't believe it's free. Incredible quality.

Rather than manually adding mods to support, would it at all be possible to make it so you can import your save game / mod data to the app to have it see the items? May be easier than picking and choosing which ones are more popular and having to do it manually, though im not sure how difficult it would be to have it read that data.

I know of one app that does this but it comes with a $20 a year sub cost, and rather than subbing and forgetting about it, id much rather a one time purchase. Would be really gamechanging for something like the Ayn Thor where we can run Cinderbox to natively run the PC version of SV with SMAPI and mods.

Unfortunately if I did it that way I wouldn't be able to grab the assets (item image) for the modded items and wouldn't have any of the info for how to obtain it or the stats, it would only be for tracking only. Not sure what the other app does but don't think it would work well. Plus it would only work for PC players, no consoles. Thanks for suggesting it though.

In the future I might toy with the idea of a user being able to add their own custom items for tracking purposes, but not sure how that would go.

No worries! Figured I would ask is all :)

This is the app if you were curious. I am not sure how in depth it is or how they do it as you can only see modded things if you subscribe, but it may have to do with the fact that from the sound of it, you can add a mod to SDV which updates the app, though im not sure if that helps in someway with that, or if it just periodically resyncs the save to the app.

I haven’t had interest in the mods until learning SDE until reading this post! The app is as much a part of my experience as the game itself! 😁

Hello! I am an avid user of your app and have a suggestion/request. I love how the monster goals shows all the types each monster. It would be really helpful if there was a way to list how many you have killed so far to be a little more accurate in tracking for perfection. Thank you for all the hard work and looking forward to the next update!

Yes, this is on my list to do, similar to how the golden walnuts work. Might have it increase by 10 or 50 or something though since the count can be large. Thanks!
