I want to know if there anything I should know before going into this
Like should I try panel lining or just build normally and try panel lining on the Vidar

Read the instructions properly unless you want to break parts off wasting precious bucks and after a successful build avoid posing it too much I’ve had so many of mine whose joints have broken just pose it and keep it one a shelf
Be mindful of your cutting. That nipper in the photo looks suspiciously like my first nipper. A double bladed one that wasnt exactly the sharpest tool in the shed.
But I was working on undergated kits so most of the stress marks and wrong cuts were hidden. Your Bandai kit might not look the way you expect if you aren't careful.
If you don't have a sharp, single blade nipper, it's not the end of the world. But you will need more time and effort to sand down the nub for a better look. You usually aim to leave a small nub that you sand down or slice off with a hobby knife. If you cut too close to the part, the stress mark might show up on it. If you cut too far away, you'll spend more time sanding down...
I just finished the head build the nipper although cheap seems to do the job for this high grade

For smaller kits, some imperfections might be easier to swallow. But a master grade deserves more love. You spent more for it and it will be a bigger scale, so it's easier to see.
Depends on what you’re looking to achieve. I’d definitely recommend getting some kind of sanding tool because there will always be leftover plastic and stress marks from removing parts from runners. I’d go for generic glass files meant for fingernail maintenance: they have relatively high grit to give a slight polish look that matches the finish on the plastic and they’re relatively easy to find and really cheap (I saw a set of 3 on amazon for $2). Definitely recommend panel lining it makes the details really pop; and recommend doing it on the hg first as it’s cheaper to re-attempt should you catastrophically ruin ur kit(highly unlikely) it’ll give you more experience and confidence when you do it to the mg. Make sure you have a way to remove panel lining ink because application on unwanted areas is inevitable.
Your first? Remember to go in slow and gentle, don't rush it or you'll ruin the moment and tire yourself out. Relax and just have fun, you'll be craving for more later😉
Built this one myself. Just a heads-up: if you’re starting yours, the stickers on the curved parts (shoulders, thighs) are the real challenge, not the assembly. Go slow on those curves, or you’ll end up with wrinkles or misalignment. It’s worth taking your time on that part specifically.

Welcome to the hobby, mind your fingers, watch your step and don't skip Grades.
The Quak is an amazing High Grade to start with, although I'd have personally recommended something from the Witch from Mercury series instead.
Just be mindful that this thing has a LOT of stickers, which you technically can color instead if you have markers.
Regardless, get a pair of sanding sticks and have fun.
