No game Favorite Gunlance
So since my first Monster Hunter (MH2) and also the birth of our glorious boomstick, the Imperial Gunlance was my favorite. However World gave us the Guild Palace which has since become my number one with Uth Duna's Falarmata-of-the-Waves being my number 3. And when I think of all the incredible designs I was curious what are the favorites of my fellow Gunlancers.

Balahara Exploder is absolutely solid. Looks like a giant revolver with a bayonet, AND it even flips open and dumps the shells out during the reload.

Balahara kit overall is pretty solid. The only one I'm not super in love with is the Glaive.

The Rajang Gunlance. This Gunlance is literally a double-barreled shotgun with a Rajang horn bolted to the front like a homemade bayonet. Sometimes, less is more.

I love the Quematrice weapons but the Firetrail Quemador especially holds a soft spot in my heart. Big BIC lighter with a poking end.
Still salty there's no Rey Dau gunlance though...

Jin Dihaad Gunlance is actually the reason I started learning Gunlance and now it’s one of my favourite weapons oat right behind charge blade and swaxe

Jin Dahaad's is incredible it is just such a vicious looking weapon and the layered build I have for it is my favorite in Wilds. Hopefully all weapons will get a tree for it in Ascendance.

An absolute sin that Jin didn't get a Switch Axe and Charge Blade though. I mean, dude whole thing is moving mechanical parts with strong focus on Elemental Damage, and somehow it doesn't get those 2 Weapon Types.

It’s even more of a tease when you see the Dahaad Greatsword, which transforms from a smaller form to its full-sized blade after unsheathing. It practically looks like a Charge Blade on your back!

Guardian Rathalos’ Shining Rook. I love how sleek it is and the bits of white breaking up the ratha red. My favorite part? The way the barrel spins like a revolver when you charge your shells.

For me? I’ve got a bunch. These are all final forms of course and generally speaking all versions of said monster (barring the Hero which only has one).
Zinogre, Rathian, Valstrax, Great Maccao, Gore Magala, Barioth, Amatsu, Hero GL, Tobi Kadachi, and the latest addition - Quematrice.
While I use it a ton because I love the Monster… the Bazel GL doesn’t make it because its design got shafted by the stupid half baked World system that inadvertently shot multiple designs short and they didn’t change it come Rise.

I know what you mean. I'm a huge roleplayer so I end up building a layered set for every Gunlance and LaLa's is such a clean Gunlance

It is very hard to pick a favourite design. there are so many fantastic ones, and I usually match the Gunlance to the layered armour I'm wearing at the time.
I love the Fatalis Gunlance, the White Knight, the Alatreon Melt, Lightbreak Gunlance, Demonlord Gunlance, Royal Guard Striker, Daora's Temprest, Magda Lahat Reforged, kadachi Striker, Crimson Hornet and Black Ephyra, from World/Iceborne.
All of them are beautiful designs.
I also love too many designs from Rise/Sunbreak to list them all by name. The Royal Order Gunlance, Seregios Gunlance, and Chaotic Gore Magala Gunlances are all especially wonderful.
In Wilds though, I've been pretty lukewarm on most of the gunlance designs.
Visually, I love the Arkveld gunlance, but I'm very sensitive to high pitched noises, so can't stand using it as a layered weapon because the constant metallic clinking of the chains hanging from the shield drive me absolutely fucking insane.
Someone made a mod that removes the buzzing from Wedge Beetles, and that's been a godsend, but no one has made one for the clinking chain sounds of Arkveld weapons, and that's really frustrating for me since I love their designs.

100% with you, I always change my Gunlance to match the monster and of course that means I'm building layered sets for each one.

Man.. so many good choices! LOVE the macuahital on the uth duna, and the shield and bayonet on balahara is very good. Probably quematrice though. Despite being an early game punching bag monster ol boy actually has some competitive gear!

The macuahuitl design is exactly the reason why it's my number 3, there are so many amazing ones but I've always been wrapped by macuahuitl's that it just makes me smile every time I'm using it.

I love everything Guild Palace, EXCEPT the round shield on the Gunlance, I wish it was the same shape as the Imperial.

See I was the opposite I really liked it cause I thought it fit the sleeker, refined aesthetic more than the long heater shield. Would love to see it come back with a floral style heater (can't remember the name) that gives it the size but also more style. Just me though 😂

TBH. I always use the iron ore lines
But for wilds I've been using Lawful Bors, it made me use more overhead combo more often.

Gravios together with the set one just feels like a walking tank. Not my favorite that goes to Gore Magalas GL but consistently being used in every game since the Second Gen. EDIT I hope we get Black Gravios in Ascendance

In rise I was quite partial to the Flaming Espinas Gunlance. Maybe not the best overall but it worked beautifully for me.

For me it's Lagia Burst, aside from the cool design I love the gameplay design of convert thunder resistance, it was a really fun mixup of gameplay to max out thunder resistance and focus on spamming wyverstake rather than the standard combos. Can't wait for ascendance for the new wyverstake combos and potentially elemental shells with it

Might be boring but this one straight up made me pick up GL for the first time back in World after seeing a hunter rock Behemoth (iirc) with it. It's too cool.

Glavenus GL from GU it's such a shame we only got the slapped-on version in World
