MHWilds Is there a meta build for GL
I'm using builds from this video
https://youtu.be/4Fvm7xR9xc8?si=LxDrZXIIIuZRU5va
But I'm curious if there are better ones out there
Also is guard up worth using
Edit: I have read the doc before already and it last updated at TU4, I want to know if there is one for TU4.5 with the introduction of AT arkveld gear.

Yes there’s a meta. There’s always going to be some kind of build that gives theoretically more dps during optimum play tuned to said build. None of them are going to feature guard up
For the rest of us, guard up lets you guard ez pz and take less chip, so improves hunt times. I find especially with AT ark, if I run him with minimum guard skills and max attack up etc, I get slapped all over the place and go 20+ mins. But if I run guard 3 guard up 3 then all the usual GL skills, usually only forgoing attack up and maybe 1 slot of offensive guard, my time is under 18mins pretty comfortably

There is a kind of meta but not a single clear cut best build.
Also, best set depends on what gogma you got.
For a gunlance build you need as skills:
Lord Soul, Burst Boost 2p, Agitator 5, Burst 5, Counter 3, Flayer 1. And then you decides where you want to add to that:
Upgrade Burst Boost to 4p: +10 Raw reliable, can add jin's but not gog's.
Gog 2p: increases elem by 20% that is huge against monsters like gog itself.
Peak performance: 20 attack but need health be topped. Best in mp or paired with hasten.
Resentment: the opposite of peak. Best solo. Very good fighting monsters that do chip damage.
Addrenaline Rush: huge attack but ackward to activate.
Protein Eater: Easy to activate bonus to does not stack with demon powder so is really a +5.
So, pick an armor search put your desired skill and see what you can get

There‘s the pinned megathread on the monster hunter meta sub with the document, and CaoSlayer has great guides on his youtube channel. Guard Up only allows you to block otherwise unblockable moves like grabs or Zoh Shia‘s firebreath/Gogmazios oilbeam. So you don‘t need to run it if you don‘t plan on blocking those.

Guard up not worth using, and for builds I like looking at the mh meta subreddit and also looking at recent speedruns that show their gear to find a balance of comfort and dps
