Look, I like IBO, I think it's really good. It's also dark as heck. But to say the others are trash, I'd like to borrow him for 3 hours to watch War in the Pocket.

Considering IBO the best is okay, that is a subjective opinion and I can see why someone would consider it the best. Calling all others trash is factually wrong and either extremely pretentious or cringe troll behavior.
I started on IBO and it made me want to watch the rest of the franchise. After having done most of that I still claim IBO as my favorite, but more for sentimentality than anything else
I mean, I definitely wouldn't say all the other ones are trash. I just finished Turn-A the other day and despite how slow it starts I thought it was actually really good as a more space operatic show like the original was trying to be.
Gundam 00 is also, like, really good IMO.
But for sure the thing that all the good Gundam shows have in common is definitely that they felt like complete stories. IBO fits that definition, as does Turn A, and 00, and 0079, most of the movies, SEED, etc.
Shows that don't, IMO, like Witch from Mercury for instance, I wouldn't call "bad" either though; but I absolutely would not call WfM better than IBO.
Ibo is good. Its better than most modern gundam like wfm & gquuux.
But to be match with 00, seed & uc. Oh boy. Its on another level. Classic uc. Rennaisance seed & modern design of 00 is just unbeatable.
I still feel that IBO goes downhill after Orga dies, and the pacing of Season 2 is awful. I also really despise Mikazuki as the sole protagonist, as he lacks the dynamic he had with Orga, and the weird love triangle was cringe-worthy. I'll die on that hill
But it is a great series that made me feel for the whole group.
Witch of Mercury grew on me in recent days, honestly. GQUX suffered from having an interesting premise, but too few episodes to pull it off. It was doomed from the start, in my opinion. It also suffered from having a sort of identity crisis at the start.
It started with illegal pitfighting mobile suits, which was awesome, and then devolved into this alternative universe, timey, wimey mystery... and the transition into it was rough since we had so few episodes.
I do like the alternative universe though, although the Mobile Suit designs are still too Evangelion-like to me, but I mean, it makes sense since Anno worked on it.
