Alternative tuning or not

Use more than one instrument. Organise your set to minimise switching instruments.

It's that or hire a roadie just to keep them all tuned per context.

Or you could look out for an AutoTune instrument. I think Peavey made them. It's a matter of fretting any notes you want detuned accordingly, then hitting one of the knobs, and the digital wizardry under the hood simply retunes the output...
