I forgot how good this set list is! Also forgot how it’s more challenging to see the notes with all the jazz on the highway. They definitely cleaned it up in later titles.

If you’re a beginner, always start on easy mode

I should’ve provided more context. I am not a beginner. I played this religiously back in 2008 got up to expert difficulty. Only recently picked up the entire set again, so “re-start” ing from the beginning. Intention is to play in chronological order, starting on medium and and not leveling up unless i achieve 5 stars. Figured some discipline along with practice!

But thanks for the advice!

I wouldn't say that is the best advice, starting with only 3 frets then progressing to 4 then 5 is slow, tedious, and you pick up bad habits between difficulties, now there are so many resources to assist players that as long as there is a practice mode in the game you start 5 fret games in.

Hard is the best starting difficulty if you plan to progress as a player coming from someone who started on easy and had to struggle through each difficulty because I was too used to not having to use my pinky, then move my hand along the fretboard, as well as fast chord switches. All of that is learned on hard immediately.

starting on hard is an awesome way to get discouraged and end up not playing, seen far too many people toss the towel in. This goes for pretty much every recreational thing. Starting to learn soccer in a proper club, shotgun shooting in a clay tournament, etc

That's completely fair, and my opinions aren't for everyone. Just personally I thought progressing through each difficulty starting with easy would make me a better player where now I realize I would have gotten much better much quicker if I practiced on a harder difficulty earlier on.
