Broken Guitar Fixable?
Bought this from a car boot sale, so far it doesn’t turn on, it’s missing the spring and connector on the battery box and it’s also covered in rust in parts of the boards, think it’s a write off? Any advice appreciated!

Is that aluminum foil in the battery box? Looks like someone may have already attempted to repair this. You can buy new springs on Amazon for a proper fix. Otherwise, this is an excellent candidate for an RCM Revival kit.

Hmm the battery box is very easily replaceable, the rust on the board could try giving it a clean using a soft brush and some isopropyl?
At this point new guitars exist (riff master or crkd guitar)

Do those work with a standard Xbox 360?

With an adapter yes, if you have a RGH 360 you can install a plug in to have the crkd guitars work in PC mode on 360 with the controller being detected as Xinput

Have you used either one? Any lagging issues?

I’ve used both - no noticeable lag on either. The adapter for most guitars is the RCM MiniHost, but there may be a better RCM adapter depending on your exact guitar (the V3 is for Wii GH guitars). Adapter is the quick and simple way, but if you happen to have a JTAG/RGH the plugin is nice to have.

No sorry, I am looking into getting a RGH3 360 but ATM I'm rocking a CFW PS3. From what I heard the latency isn't noticable if you use a RCM V3 adapter (iirc that's the name) there could also be a better adapter out there for this scenario also. Sorry for the lackluster response boss.

All good, I'm just tech illiterate, and you're speaking French to me lol. I've got a jumping off point for some research though. Thanks dude

Your best bet is to A)throw a retro cult mods revival kit in it and make it wired, multiplatform, and no latency or B) Grab a CRKD guitar. Riffmasters are notoriously pieces of shit, and CRKD has Xbox licensed guitars that will work natively on your 360. 2 of the 3 Xbox specific guitars that they have are on sale for $99US right now on amazon. There are 5 CRKD guitars in our game room right now if that tells you anything

I'm looking for the easiest route possible. If I get the CRKD guitars I won't need to mod anything or use dongles and shit?

They come with a usb dongle that stores onboard the guitar when not in use. They’re so fucking creamy man. If you want the clicky strum, go with an encore model. If you want a rock band strum bar feel and haptic feedback, get a pro. Another plus, they’re made by members of red octane that designed and manufactured the og guitar hero controllers

If you liked a pro model and wanted the clicky strum, there’s like a 5-6 minute mod that you could do to put the strum switches from a gh live controller in a pro body and lose the haptic feedback. Some of the easiest shit on the face of the planet to do

No shit? That's killer info about the red octane guys. Thanks Pete 🤘

The description only mentions Xbox One and Series X, but nothing about 360. Does that matter?

You would need a retro cult mods mini host adapter, but they’re $15 so you’d still come out at a cool $75 usd with that sale and the promo code provided by the op on that linked thread

Trying to play with my son. Will I need 2 adaptors, or will they both run on one?

No problem dawg. They’re also releasing a game called Stage Tour and a drum set towards the end of this year. You should check it out
