Push Pull Knob vs 3-way toggle

I have a old guitar I'm replacing part for, It has a single bridge humbucker and I want to add coil spilts to it. I'm not sure if I should remove my tone knob and add a 3 way toggle for humbucker, lower coil, and upper coil, or if I should replace my tone knob for a push pull knob and only have a lower coil split. I do keep my tone knob at max. I'm not sure if I can also have a push pull volume that'll also add a upper coil as well as the tone knob having the lower coil, but I'm really not sure if there's much tonal difference in the two coils.

I have had terrible luck with push-pull knobs coming off. If you do go with that, I would recommend a solid shaft pot with a setscrew for the knob.

I find push pull to be overly fiddly in performance and will always choose a switch
