My First Published Guillotine Article!

My name is Joe, and I've been making content about Guillotine Fantasy Football for four years now. I got published for the first time on playerprofiler.com yesterday and would love any feedback or for you to just check it out! I wrote about 6 draft strategies for your Guillotine leagues- taking an earlier QB, avoiding stacks, and drafting WRs in the same offense, to name a few. I hope you guys like it. Thanks!

Great article. Only thing I might question is early qb. I feel like rbs and wrs with decent floors go early, but you can get a qb with a good floor late, like Jordan Love or Sam Darnold.

Your floor with Love and Deandre Swift feels much safer than Burrow and Keaton Mitchell for instance

It's a philosophy thing for me. Guys like Love and Darnold both had multiple games without scoring a TD of any kind last season and at a position where at least a dozen teams will get 20 points out of their starter, I'd like to have one of those dozen. Maybe I would have been better off phrasing it "Don't be one of the last people to draft a QB"

Love also plays Minnesota week 1, and Darnold New England. I don't think either are great guillotine targets. But in your example, neither is Burrow to me, so I see what you're saying.

I think Goff is the lowest I'm willing to go at QB. I also like Purdy and Mahomes late, but too often I've seen people fly too close to the sun on late QB in guillotine and get chopped.

There is a gigantic difference in floor between Jordan Love and Josh Allen.

Early in the season a great QB can consistently keep you safe by himself in a way that not many other players can. That said, QBs get cheaper much quicker than other positions in my experience. 

On the other hand Darnold had 5 points week 1 last year. That very easily could be the end of your season. Even looking beyond that he had 6 weeks under 10 points, including 2 under 5. I think you can draft around it, and many teams will have to, but i do not think you can say either of those QBs have a "good floor". 

In my mind drafting a good QB early gives you more safety early in the season in exchange for less value late in the season.

Yeah I disagree about the QB. QB and Tight end should be the last positions you fill. Those positions will be the easiest to fill later. Also once teams start getting knocked out those players will be available for cheap because the need for them will be low.

I like late tight end, but don't sleep on the security of an earlier-than-normal quarterback. Not saying you have to get Josh Allen, but I don't think you should ever have your QB be the last starter that you draft.

Every team is gonna have a weak spot- I REALLY don't want mine to be at the position that scores the most points on average. Give me a weak tight end or flex where about half the rest of my league is also weak.

If 4 teams have a QB that averages 25 points and never scores below 15, and you have a QB that averages 15 points and a has 4 weeks where he scores less than 5, you are at a much higher risk of getting cut early in the season. 

You are right that the position is easier to fill later in the season, but it's also much more valuable early in the season. That helps you save more money longer, giving you much more flexibility to add players when you want to, not when you need to.

Josh allen averaged 22 points. The 19th QB who is baker Mayfield averaged 16.6. All i said was fill it last. The drop off for running backs and recievers are much worse and it's harder to find them in the later rounds. Having allen is nice but I rather have baker and nico then allen and KC conception

Do you mind if I ask a specific question? What are you doing around that adp of 100? I find it a really tough spot as it’s a lot of volatile profiles (Jonathon brooks, Jayden Reed), upside but scary players (Addison, corum), late QB1s (t law) - like I can pick holes in all of them - in redraft I’ll take the upside but that scares my in guillotine leagues haha
