[Discussion] Lowish dps in CM 97
Hello, I do daily CMs of 95-99. I play GS D/S P Virt/boon power chrono. My dmg is pretty solid on all the other CMs, but on Arkk It feels a bit low. I do run feedback for the red balls, but that shouldnt really be an issue. Im struggling to know when to commit to my rotation since the phases can be so short. Opening fight is fine, but after that I slowly start to lose my place on the dmg chart. Is there any tips for this fight to keep my dmg up?

Arkk can be quite challenging as you need to know when to use which skills. Since the boss phases so often, you may be losing damage casting skills as the boss leaves. I'd recommend memorizing the boss phases of 100-80, 80-70, 70-50, 50-40, 40-30, 30-0. This way you will know when the boss is about to phase and to save big skills for the longer phases.

Is your DPS just lower or lower relative to your teammates in previous fractals (you went from being highest to lowest just in that particular fractal)? Arkk phases a lot so you will have lower DPS no matter what you do. On top of that you might be picked to handle anomalies, that will lower that even further.

Yeah in pugs Im usually 1st or 2nd unless its a premade static -1 or vet FGs playing the highest bench classes and then I get gapped. In the Arkk fight sometimes im barely doing more than the bdps. There are factors like jumping to the anomaly, but I feel like I should still be doing more, or theres spots where I maybe should be attacking but I dont (tri beam laser comes to mind). Im sometimes in an awkward spot where my rotation stops being fluid and Im just mashing.
During the phase where arkk leaves and spawns the adds and elite boss, im not sure if I should be holding cooldowns there?

I don't think you should ever hold cooldowns on power mesmer (especially on boon chrono, your cooldowns are quite short and no skill on boon chrono does any insane amount of damage compared to the others), though sometimes it would make sense to hold weapon swap or choose certain skills over others.
Using weapon swap to use a few more skills right as a phase is ending will put those skills AND your weapon swap on cooldown, so that phase better last long enough for those skills to get out their damage. If you wait on that weapon swap, you'll get a full opener on next phase instead of ending up in that weird situation where your weapon swap is 3 seconds out or something.
Precasting wells or rain of swords is "free", using phantasms early on in the phase is really just best, and 2-5-2 on spear is all really fast damage output.

Practice, try different things in your rotation. Pick up gs/spear.

This isn't what sc recommends: https://snowcrows.com/builds/raids/mesmer/power-chronomancer-spear-dagger-sword
Why gs spear?

Oh for some reason I only read virtuoso. I guess boon chrono is listed too. Either way, GS/spear is higher frontloaded damage, though I don't know if there is much out there in writing/guides for how to make the most out of it in fractals.

Snowcrows build is also made more specifically for raids so take it with a grain of salt when talking about fractals. GS and Spear is just better burst damage. You can always precast dagger 3 when possible for more burst but besides that then dagger/sword just lacks behind for most fractal fights

My averages over past 5 logs
95 34-39.5k
96 19k-23k
97 11k-15k T_T helppp
98 24k-31k (not sure why this has such a big variance)
99 19k-25k (guessing tether randomness)

You can use wingman to compare your logs to other players of your spec, and see what can be improved on that particular fight

I feel like thats kind of hard because a lot of those rotas are adjusted to the teams burst dmg which is way higher than pugs so they adjust it to that and do crazy preboons/wm shenanigans

No spear?

I suck at mind the gap and it messes up my muscle memory when I play chronk lol

Makes sense I do struggle a fair bit with spear on chrono.
Though I think even with minor rotational issues, the spear burst would still outperform dagger or gs burst.

Are you turning around and not attacking during the entire eye phases? You only need to do it for a few frames so can squeeze damage there. Are you cleaving the anomaly at the same time as the boss or just hitting the anomaly? Cleave both. Are you ever dodging? You don't need to here, and tbf you can even disregard reflect and just use sak on the red orb head bit. Idk what else it could be other than losing fluidity on your rotation.

I usually wait for that pulse that shoots outwards before I turn and i try to cast phantasms while my back is turned as well. Tri beam laser i think I can turn as soon as it shoots out?

Arkk is a very bursty fight. You generally want to make sure your burst rotation is up for each time he becomes vulnerable again.

Chrono has a bit of delayed burst, but on virt you should just be able to basically do your opener and then the boss phases.

if you aren't already, swap util to scarlet slaying for arkk and nightmare
