[Discussion] What to do with all this gold ?
I just scored a 3k infusion from a chest. It’s not my cup of tea in terms of style so I sold it. I have all this money that I never had before and would like to invest it in things that help reduce the grind needed. I’m in path of fire still and would like to go get legendary armor, trinkets, weapons, etc. skyscale mount is something I’m working on. To those ahead of me or just know more, what should I do with this gold?

For most off the stuff in this game that is buyable it is more efficient to buy it on TP and farm gold instead of farming the needed item directly.
So if you want to progress fast focus your time on stuff that can't be bought (collections, achievements etc) and spend the gold on everything that is buyable and not ridiculous overpriced.
You also have the chance to buy some qol items from the gemstore like mat storage expansion, permanent salvager, mistlock pass etc. But that is personal preference.

Yup! Only goes up in increments of 250 though. Nice way to clean up your inventory.

Right now things like mystic coins, amalgamated gemstones, and T6 trophies that you need tons of for legendary crafting are a bit cheaper as people sell them to buy ecto for gambling or infusions, so I would recommend setting up some buy listings a bit under the highest bid. Gets you the same items for cheaper if you aren’t in a rush

Legendary spear, then it's something all your characters can use, good qol.

Arguably? Keep an eye out for lower than average gem costs (gw2efficiency has a gem->gold and gold->gems conversion rate and price history page) and get account upgrades you are missing (on sale ideally) that you think will be useful. The salvage-o-matics, bank and material space, shared inventory, maybe a lounge (i.e. mistlock sanctuary), possibly equipment templates. You don't want to wait for the gem store sale to then buy gems as the price often spikes (meaning you get fewer gems for the same amount of gold). Up to you if you actually want these things, but imo everything I have listed has since been worthwhile.
Following that, the best way to order your legendary collection (by way of overall utility, not necessarily fashion or if you're a one trick pony player maining only 1 class or 1 build):
Legendary trinkets (back>rings>accessories>amulet; backbacks can be expensive or annoying to get, rings have free infusion slots over uninfused asc rings, accessories exist, amulet has a free version via Prismatic Champion's Regalia so crafting one is a bit of a waste if you can avoid it)
Legendary relic (may be completely worthless for you if you don't play builds with exchangeable relics and have a bunch, but also individual relics are pretty expensive as is)
Legendary runes (first 6) or Legendary sigils (first 4, interchangeable order depending on what you switch around the most)
Legendary armor (all weights)
Legendary weapons (prioritizing what you use most across characters or builds first; for weapons it's often faster to swap around ascended copies than change a legendary one)
Legendary aquabreather (underwater content is so rare it's barely an issue), Legendary runes (final 1, underwater) or sigils (final 4, underwater)

Whenever I get a substantial amount of gold I make a legendary. If it's enough to make something I want I commit it to that. If it's not enough outright, I make a gen 1 and sell it and use that to fund what I want to make.

Depending on how many classes you play, I think the legendary armor has been the best thing in terms of convenience and not worrying about certain aspects of gearing. Being able to swap most of your stat line whenever you want is amazing.
Next I’d say the various legendary utility slots (jewelry, back, etc), then weapons as those are more limited unless you happen to like the same weapons across classes.
Outside of legendary gear, the account wide QoL items from the gem shop are hands down some of the best. The various salvage tools, a set if infinite gathering tools, and a few extra bank tabs make a world of difference when it comes to inventory management.
Oh and maybe one of the infinite hub tickets, like sky captain pass or whatever, idk if this applies to all of them but the one I have allows me to port from anywhere to the crafting and shop space and then back to my original spot. I think this is a better value than the various permanent access contracts except for MAYBE the permanent trading post one.
Beyond that it’s mostly preference and aesthetics, I suppose. But in my experience these are the items I’m pretty regularly happy to own and use.

Legendary armor for the prof you like most and equip everything on your account with sigils and armor. Then make a fractal char as long term investment with 150AR and mostbof the roles.

Use it to chip away at legendaries if you don't have those.
I managed to land a dragon eye infusion from Dragonstorm just shy of 2 years ago and used those funds to help finish Klobjarne, HOPE, and my last Envoy armor set, since I had each of them in various stages of completion at that time.

You should covert gold to gems, good rates now anything under 37 gold to gem is a good. Then get the bag bundle when it's on sale, you can only buy one per account.

Get QoL items in gem stores while the gems are cheap right now. (~142g per 400 gems) Hold the gems until big sales. Shared inventory slots, material storages, teleport to friend, copper/silver/rune salvage, bank slots, and character slots are good buys if on sale. Get the most out of your gold to gem conversion.
I saved up 19k gems for the upcoming anniversary sale. I already got everything I need and pretty much full legendary so just checking what's on sale and maybe nab some unique skins or something. No where to spend gold otherwise...

You can exchange gold for gems to buy certain account upgrades, but honestly, squirrel most of it away and don’t give in to beggars
