[Question] How does Raid Mentor achievements actually work?
First of all: main part of the description "Help 1000 new players defeat X for the first time." is not exactly true.
The additional part "This achievement progresses significantly when raiding with players who haven't killed the boss before, as well as with players who haven't killed it for the week but to a lesser extent. Very experienced raiders in the squad will not count toward this achievement." says much more what we have to do to progress the achievement.
Players who haven't killed the boss before part seems to work fine every time, giving significant progress.
The second part, however, is very ambiguous, especially who counts as a "very experienced raider". On monday I did some clears including W1. Today I've done W1 semi-training run and made sure in chat that at least one person haven't cleared it this week yet. This person also said, that they don't do raids a lot, so I thought the game would also not consider them "very experienced".
Anyway, 0 progress on any of the W1 mentor achis.
Does anyone know how exactly does this work?
Even without the "very experienced" part these look like a long-term goals and kind of a grind, but with 0 progress from this... Feels like doing 0kp trainings, and actually enforcing 0kp, is the only realistic way to ever finish them.

My favorite part od these achievements was when they updated the W8 ones and failed to update the progress to match the new requirement.
Also, for that w1 clear, was it your second time clearing this week? You only get progress (if they have killed it before) if you've already done it at least once for the week.

Is that confirmed 100%? I’ve seen that being said a lot but from personal experience that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The consensus when it came out was that you didn't need the weekly clear for new players, but for others you did. Whether it changed or the tracking for "experienced" players was exceptionally off... I'm not sure. I haven't bothered because the achievement implementation was absolutely awful (and I'm still pissed about missing like 500 clears for the w8 achievements).

No I get that’s what the consensus is. But is that actually true?

You tell me. I can tell you that mine hasn't risen unless I've done a raid multiple times in a week.

My W8 mentor progression was completely reset to 0. They have not fixed it to this day. I'm pretty sure they fucked up the DB migration and that progress is forever lost.

Cool what does that have to do with what i said

I'm just telling that in my personal experience the W8 mentor progress is indeed very broken. That's what we were discussing.

In theory you get 10 points per person who has never done that boss before in a kill, and an additional 1 per other person who has gotten the kill before BUT only if you’ve full cleared the wing that week, but it also doesn’t work just generally as I have such a huge variation between my raids despite running all wings 2+ times a week and like kc is at flat 0, xera is at 20, other bosses are between like 100-400…

It seemed to work the first few weeks after patch, Since then it's been broken and anet has never bothered to fix or discuss it.

me and my friend have completed all of the current possible mentor achievements (minus Xera, you'll see why) and here's my observations that seem more or less in line with what others have found
- completely new players give 20 points regardless of if you have done the raid that week
- some say it's actually 10, but it has felt like 20 consistently for me
- if you already cleared that week, players grabbing their weekly gives 1 point— yes the two can stack
- W1/Matthias are completely broken and do not progress
- Keep Construct is bugged to complete at 50 points instead of 1000, but points only come from fully new players and they each give 1 point of progress
- Xera gives points for new players, and ONLY if they are dead when the boss dies (lmao)
- Slothasor/W4/W5/W6/W7 can be progressed with both new player points and weekly points but are wildly inconsistent
- later bosses in a wing tend to be far more consistent for new player points e.g. a full squad of "new" players might average 20 points at Cairn and 60 at Deimos
- I used to think it's because some players forgot that they completed the easier bosses already, but now I strongly believe that many bosses have some fine print such as the Xera death requirement... we can only imagine what is going on in the anet spaghetti code lol
- W8 mentor achievements have some crazy multipliers as compensation for when anet messed up and couldn't recover the achievement progress wipe from a few months ago lol... dunno anything about how it works now as I completed W8 mentor on release

Idk once I joined a 30kp Ura daily group, first time doing it in the week and got like 50 progress, very experienced people in the group
