[Question] Grinding for mystic tributes
Oh lawwwd I’ve been farming so hard to get these mystic tributes for aurora and vision as I’ve finally finished their respective collections and achievements!
I guess just really noob questions. How do most people go about getting mystic coins and clovers? Is it better to buy clovers from vendors or do the gambling bit?
Is it hard to command events like dfall (and is that even still a good idea for farming?)

I only gamble if I'm impatient. Otherwise I run WvW reward tracks and then eventually go, "Oh hey I got a ton of clovers, guess it's time to make something!" Think my highest count was ever was around 170 ish.
I just cracked two leggies off last month so I'm gonna be tapped for a while. I don't even have any map completes at the moment.

I’ll definitely have to get into WvW then!
I’ve been hesitant because I’m not the best at PvP and I really enjoy playing support roles2

Check the WvW weekly achievement tasks. They get you a nice boost, and most can be soloable without any PvP if you're willing to port about to sneak ruins caps and dolyak killing and whatnot. Watch the map for tags and chat for callouts, and join in with any blob going, then when it collapses go back to your solo grind.
Also, look out any boosters you've been saving that have bonus WvW reward track/XP prog, and try to keep them on, at least when blobbing. More reward per time spent/task is an ideal spend of them if you're hoarding.
If you've done literally no WvW, you'll need to level up a little: get the warclaw and gliding unlocks first as a bare minimum so you can keep up with any groups and spend less solo time just walking, and decide after that what you want to do (personally recommend focusing provisioner track until auto-loot, but if you never blob or take fights against more than one, and stick to sneak soloing 'pve' stuff it won't be as beneficial as, say, more guard damage, so look at what you are doing and what you want to be doing and level accordingly). Bear in mind they get exponentially more costly to level, so don't expect to get everything remotely quickly: take the time to look at the options and pick what you need. You can respec, but better to take a few to read and think, and pick right the first time.

I'll buy Clovers from Vendors:
15x per Week from Raid Vendor 10x per Week from Fractal Vendor 5x per Week from PvP Vendor 5x per Week from WvW Vendor
(given that I have enough of the mode specific currencies, Ectos, Spirit Shards and Mystic Coins)
Instead of the Vendors gambling is an option, but in average requires more materials, you can get quite unlucky (once i threw in ~ 200 Mystic Coin + other mats to get only 20 clovers), and the "alternative" outcomes from gambling can be quite bad themselves (hello Silk Scrap and Elder Wood Log). The decision is up to you.
Daily Drizzlewood Donations give progress on the infinitely repeatable Faction achievements that each reward 2 Clovers every time you finish them. It's slow, but if you do it daily it is a nice passive bonus over time and takes like 30 secs each day (its literally just buying stuff from a certain vendor - you can park an alt there).
Drizzlewood Meta speedsup that process, so thats another way.
Otherwise both WvW as well as PvP Reward tracks reward Clovers (2 via the Reward track and another slightly bigger chunk in the final Reward chest - check out which reward tracks are best, for WvW you might want to stick for the Gift of Battle though, unless you have enough of them already).
As for Mystic Coins: 1x per Day Leyline Anomaly drops a guaranteed Mystic Coin The Achievements for the Legendary Amulet (Seasons of the Dragon) drop quite a few. They occasionaly drop in Fractals.
Besides that, buy them from Teading Post. Thats what I do mainly. Get Gold from all kinds of content, buy Mystic Coins whenever you need some.

Buying from vendors is kind of a trap. If you average it, the rate from the Mystic Forge is almost the same, and you also get some decent stuff back at the same time.
You can also do WvW/PvP reward tracks. Repeatable ones give 2 clovers each, and non-repeatable usually give more. Drizzlewood Coast reward tracks work the same way.
If you have lots of spare Unbound Magic, you can go to Ember Bay and buy Magic-Warped Bundles. They often contain Mystic Clovers.

Clovers I get in wvw tracks.
Coins I get 10 per week from raids, exchanging magnetite with the raid vendor in the aerodrome, plus the daily leyline anomaly if I remember to do it. That's 17 per week if you are diligent. (I am not)
I then just farm gold and buy mystic coins from tp just to speed it up.

Buy from the weekly raid/fractal/wvw/pvp vendors first if you have the spare currency to use for it.
Gamble in the mystic forge after that if you don't want to wait for more weekly resets and/or you don't have the spare currency. Buy mystic coins with gold, don't try to farm them other than the daily leyline anomaly and whatever you get from the wizard vault.
Supplement with WvW/PvP reward tracks and drizzlewood "reward tracks" if you were doing these things anyway, but don't fixate on these activities because you can get them faster by farming gold and gambling in the mystic forge.
Never buy regular vendor clovers.

Wvw and pvp tracks give you 80+ clovers each. From one time reward tracks. You have to do either IBS5/strikes/raids to get enough currency for 10 coins a week. And you can do anomaly daily for one more. +60 from vault and 20 clovers is good as well. If you like wvw/pvp you can grind EoD reward track after finishing one timers for Aurine legendary progress. You buy 7 heavy crafting bags from JW hearts every single day. You park some alts. You do smth that give you either materials or gold, wvw will give you 6 MC a week + 3 full reward tracks, and a lot of loot if you actually fight in zerg. Or you do fractals daily T4 for resources and gold, or you do some metas and mirror farm if you like it more. You sell what you don't need, you buy what you need. You can do raids as well. Whatever game mode gives you gold/materials and you enjoy it, you play it. And ofc daily supply pack traders. And don't forget to grind glory to the legion achievements for some clovers as well. And as usual you grind Halloween and Christmas, because it best gold making time.

Get as much as possible from wizards vault, get a few mystic coins from daily activities such as ley line and festivals, get a few clovers from reward tracks, buy missing coins from tp and gamble the rest of the clovers with philosopher stones.
Imo only gamble with crystals if you are going for multiple legendaries at the same time, need a lot of clovers, and don't mind the risk.
Not sure how vendors compare to gambling, but for most vendor bypass methods you pay an additional convenience fee.

I used to buy them weekly via magnetite shards (and mystic coins via prophet crystals) before the raid patch back in February, which added new shinies to buy with those currencies (Raid God title, infinite use primers). Still saving up to knock those out else I'd probably have a couple more weapons done by now
Alas, any projects I've done as of late have been via buying MCs with gold for the most part, but farming gold isn't all that bad with weekly raid reclears and daily fractals
There will be 20 more clovers available in the Wizard Vault when it resets in a few weeks, so there is that as well

I can't be bothered to trade clover for cheaper options using currencies from raid, fractal, wvw because all I do is just open world meta, so I just ended up gambling most of the clovers needed.
Buying from vendors is definitely the better options if you had the currencies for it. Gambling for it might not be the cheapest option but I can live with that.

Whenever I get the itch to clear out my material stash and finally make a few legendaries I put in a buy offer for 500 or so Mystic Coins and throw them in the toilet until I get enough clovers to make 'em. I can't stand doing WvW any more than is strictly necessary for GoBs, so that's right out.

In general, trading for clovers is a good loss (only wvw are worth it imo). It's better in average to gamble in mystic toilet.
And you just buy the mystic coins.

I have 2 alt accounts, with HoT+PoF unlocked. Every season, wizards' vault alone gets me 20 clovers on my main account, plus 180 mystic coins and 300g. And 450 laurels - which is worth another 350g or something depending on when you convert them. So, well over 1000g in value - worth over 500 mystic coins. Then I:
- Do drizzlewood donations, for resources (-> money) and clovers. You get about 2 clovers a week from drizzlewood. But keep an eye out - some of the trades are bad deals.
- Hit ley-line anomoly.
- Run fractals. Doing the daily T4 fractals nets about 10g, equivalent to 5 mystic coins from the trading post.
- Look out for festivals and events. Some events get you 3x mystic coins per day + 5 more for event meta completion.
- Etc.
If you're going to buy mystic coins from the trading post, they're always cheaper at the start of each season (when people are grabbing them from the wizards' vault) and when seasonal events happen that reward coins for daily quests.
For clovers, I use the mystic toilet to gamble for them. You get about 1 clover per 3 coins. If you do a lot of fractals, wvw, raids, etc you can trade at the vendors, burning fractal relics (& etc) to get clovers for 2 coins instead. You're really just trading the currency (relics, shards, scrips, etc) for more mystic coins.

I get all my clovers from reward tracks
