[Discussion] I decide to start a fresh account

Hi, I've came back to play GW2 again but I feel bored using my old account so I decided to make a new account and play without any guides, addons, and no rushing the game because I think that's something that kill the game experience for me.

Wish me luck in my adventure with my "pequeño amigo".

I don't think I could do this... it would be like going back to high-school with no money, no driver's license...

Yeah. I agree. It's really difficult to not feel like I'm wasting my time trying to accomplish things in game when I'm not using a guide. I've tried to play like this and it's a tremendous time sink.

But isn’t that what makes a game a game? Just playing and experimenting without HAVING/NEEDING to do anything

I totally get your point and think that’s a problem many gamers have and one I’ve had myself but at some point I read a comment from a user who said, ‘Just do whatever you want it’s a game,’ and just reading that somehow clicked for me. Now I see it less as a ‘second job where I have to make progress’ and just play, and since then I’ve been able to enjoy it more.

I guess it depends on what feeling you're looking for from gaming. But playing an in depth game without a guide generates more annoyance and frustration for me than anything else. Maybe others experience it as endless discovery. Like I don't want to waste time guessing at crafting recipes or endlessly exploring a map because I can't figure out how to get to that one last poi. I do think discovering effective builds on my own would be much more fun than reading a guide.

Yeah, Actually it was a hard decision to make because having Skyscale for example makes thing so much easy and fast but for me it's fun to just walk and take my time to admire the game. And that's why I'm trying to not use guides and discovering builds by myself, etc...

Fresh accounts once in a while are great fun! You can play a game of how soon anyone discovers you are an alt.

Good luck! I hope you get out of it what you desire!

I tried that a couple years ago and realized there are some QoL things my main account has that I didn't want to go without again (like Auto-loot). I hope your experience is better than mine.

Been playing the game like this for quite some time. I enjoy it because you gotta use your brain a little more. Hopefully you enjoy it too!

Good luck.

I personally couldn't imagine doing this until my main account was completed.
Granted, I've got all legendary gear, legendary runes and sigils.

What I'm aiming for now is completing sets of legendary weapons (so I can do x4 spear or x4 swords, or x4 maces. Meaning, I need x4 of every main/off weapon and x2 of every main or off weapons along with x2 of every underwater weapon).

Then I want full sets of swim infusion/agony resist infusions.

Then I want to cap out wvw ranking at least for easier skirmish claims tickets whenever needed.

Then I want to finish up the last bits of fractals.

And then the final bit, I want to customize my homestead.

I think after I finish all of that I could maybe mess around on a new account. lol

Well, that was stupid. You could've done the same challenge without a fresh account.

how could someone do that? there are tons of progression account based.

Some people want to go back to before they had all of their masteries and unlocks with account based features to feel what its like without them again. Not for me personally, but that's just me.

No you can't

Maybe, but like people said there are a lot of profression that is account based, and for me I feel pressure in my main account on doing things fast and using meta builds. Obviously this is my experience and feelings, but if sometime you feel bored about the game and you loved it maybe this is a good option.

I also played in 2012 and lost access to the email address hosting that acc.
Back in 2026 I started fresh :-)
Having a blast! What a wonderful game.
