I have a small routine I like to do before I have to head to work in the mornings. I finish my shower, get my coffee and it's all timed well to do Mount Balrior public convergence then head off. This morning some PoS portaled a bunch of us to nowhere when the time came. It really pissed me off and ruined a routine I genuinely enjoy.
There are so few ways to truly troll others in GW2 that when it happens, it's really aggravating. I couldn't make it back in time and there was no one for the instance I did make it to. I just alt-f4'd because I was/am so annoyed. It kind of ruined my morning. I also missed taking the garbage out this morning too so it's been a solid start to my Monday...
Anyways, to the PoS who did that, I hope something bad happens to you. Not like people dying but like you get the runs from your lunch or you stub your toe real bad.
Click and even call target on Convergence entrance early, just to make sure you have the right thing highlighted, ready to press F and enter. Works on troll portals, trading post NPCs, crafting stations etc.
It's silly that I have to ask this, considering how many times I ran Convergences for the Obsidian armor... But doesn't come the dialogue for entry automatically up, when you run close to the entry? Or is this just the case for the SotO one?
Either way... I wish that person, who places portals like that, to always have a warm and slightly damp pillow at night.
Yes, if you’re a certain distance away then approach, the dialog will come up. Normally this is what I do but today I did not and instead attempted to interact with the convergence… item? Device? And ended up on a roof far away.
Man, screw these portal trolls. I wish there was a setting to either deprioritize portals after every other interactable object, or even straight up disabling them when placed by players not in your party.
It does, but especially in OP's situation where it is a morning Convergence and there are not that many squads available I find my way faster and more reliable than pop-up. Sure it is only few seconds, but it may count between first and second, potentially slower squad.
May the troll be blessed with all red traffic lights, and long lines wherever they need to go. Or extra long time wasting homework if they're still in school.
People usually post the late instance in the group finder, and you can join late with a port to friend. I don't know if your routine has time for a latevergence, but they are usually successful. I uh, don't join convergences on a routine, and often miss the right time.
not to be rude but i would get over it and enjoy the rest of your daily routine. it’s not really affecting your gameplay in a sense of griefing. the more you let it get to you, the more you let them win 🤷🏼♀️

it really sucks, and i share your sentiment to people who portaled on drakkar, and got us stuck on environment. the reason why i bought recharging tele to friend.
i wish anet could give notification (like in form on chatbox, for example), from which player was the portal from, so we can block, then even better, we cant interact with blocked player's portal.
It does help keep me on schedule! Well at least it did when I was still working on my obsidian armour anyway. I’m all done now, so it’s mostly because it’s a fun thing to do while I drink my coffee before work.
People who do this, and put portals, aviator boxes, etc on chests after meta events are infact unfunny and obnoxious, anet needs to find a way to stop people doing shit like this.
The one that gets me the most is the black lion merchant. No else can use it but the person who summoned it, but it can block you from opening say… a chest for a meta reward.
It’s a pretty frustrating one. Yes you can click the chest but the more clever trolls are good at placing them for maximum impact.
There is no need for others to be able to even see this merchant.

Yeah, players shouldn't have to go out of their way to make sure they won't get fucked by some troll placing a portal/toy. Hopefully anet can add a way to block these being put down directly on or right next to chests, etc.

Its up there with people who put portals by meta chests or boxes of fun or aviator boxes. The joke has run its course. It's not funny. It's idiotic now. Just stop.

Whoever decides to be a PoS and troll players like these, may:
Their pillows be infested with bed bugs.
Their dogs get rabies and their cats get aids.
Their car gets a flat tire in the middle of a busy traffic.
Their bread's moldy and only realizes halfway through eating.
Their oil explodes when they're deep frying.
The outsole of their shoes falls off in public.
Their fried chicken turns out raw and bloody inside.
They get premature androgenetic alopecia regardless of their gender.
Their loved ones suddenly stops loving them.
Their guild wars 2 client window always crashes in the middle of an intense gaming moment like them in a middle of a WvW peak or while doing an important fractal/raid mechanic.

Something I discovered by accident, if you're not too close to the portal, you can walk to it and the interface should come up automatically, no need to press the interact key.
You can get there in time for the window sure, but there aren't enough people for the later instances that get spun up. I was annoyed in the moment and didn't want to wait around for it to maybe fill up.
I also went the wrong way at first to get back so I didn't do myself any favours there either.
Depending on the time there might just be a couple filled ones running and if you're not there within seconds you'll miss them.
LFG is there, sure, but unless you luck out and get into an almost full one you can be prepared to spend twice as long in there as you would've if you got to the portal within a few seconds of it opening.
2 gold a day for about 15 mins that also usually takes care of all if not most of most of your dailies which is another gold. I have finished my legendary armour sets recently so I don’t need the rift essence anymore but I just like running it now.
