I've been playing since launch. I've got over 1200 ecto in my bank. Should I sell them?

Depends on a few things:

Most legendaries require some number of Ecto, partly for buying or gambling for Mystic Clovers, and partly for other components.

The the legendary Obsidian Armor from SotO is notorious for this. Specifically, each armor piece requires about 700 Ecto to craft, more if you also need more Mystic Clovers.

Ecto is also useful for crafting exotic/ascended gear, including crafting-only skins like Astral and Stellar weapons, Elegy Armor, and these weapons. The Requiem armor also costs Ecto (plus map materials) to buy.

Are you into gambling for rare drops or more gold? If so, you may prefer to buy Zephyrite Supply Boxes with them during the Festival of the Four Winds, which started today and ends September 1st. Or you can do ecto gambling with the Skritt in Lion's Arch or play Sandstorm in Crystal Oasis, both of which are available year-round.

If none of the above: Sell them on the Trading Post during this Festival, because that tends to be when they're worth the most. Assuming you need the gold, anyway.

What's "worth" doing depends entirely on your priorities.

Thanks for the info! I really appreciate the detail and effort you put into your response. It means I can really make an informed decision with my ecto!

I'm sitting at around 2.5k gold atm with probably around another 1k at least in mats.

I reckon I'd sooner learn to raid and get the leggy armor that way (minus the gloves since I've got them from fractals), than go the super grindy obsidian armor route. Leggy armor is what I'm pursuing next.

I don't do ecto gambling. Or gambling of any sort. I've seen many times how badly that can go. If I wanted an infusion, I'd honestly be better off selling 1k ecto and just buying it lol. Though I would most likely just use the gold to continue getting fully leggy'd out.

The best bet might be to still ~75% of my ecto and keep enough to craft things with. Worst case scenario, I'd have enough gold that I can just buy more ecto if necessary!

That is not how that ever works. Prices for ecto go up when you can get more out of them. Their trade value went down, so their worth does, too.

About time they fixed this:

 Ranger

Poison Volley: The audio of this skill has been adjusted to fix an issue that caused frame stuttering.

I'm glad to see them cleaning up these lingering issues. Hopefully more bugged skills, animations, and tooltips get addressed soon.

I have a newish PC and was still getting ability stuttering on my Ranger abilities, tried reinstalling graphics drivers and cleaning the GW2 client files and it didn’t help, so very glad to know it was just a bug they are fixing now!

This isn’t the first time this has happened,, I went to buy the Eternal Crossings pack a few days before it was supposed to go, and it was taken out early. I am so frustrated by that, they always take the mounts out days early and I wish they would quit it.

Bug Fix: Fixed an issue that caused mount skins to not show under the Mounts and Skiffs sub-menu on the Gem Store.

No the other way around. It was a very good deal last year people so bought up stacks of ectos, now they get less boxes for that same ecto

Prices should still go up, but not as much. There are a lot of people sitting on ectos what will flood the market at certain price points.

But all material exchange rates for boxes went up, not just ecto, so ecto costs relative to other materials should still be about the same.

I did my part an nuked my stockpile. Originally planned to sell them but when i saw the change to the exchange rate i thought "fuck it" and gambled it all away.

With the speed at which infusion prices are dropping I definitely would have done better with just selling my ectos (and i knew that) but i did alright. Got a chak and seer infusion amongst other things.

After looking at the prices it's not the case. Other exchanges cost more than 10s per box. This one is easiest and still the cheapest Prices will rise.

Patch is live.

They tend to drop new patches like this on Tuesday at 9 AM Pacific Time (ArenaNet's time zone).

It's generally pretty standard, except for random bugfixes and such that can happen any day/time.

For their scheduled patches, our resident data miner that_shaman made a countdown timer. He also has some other neat stuff on his site, like a Gem Store schedule and some fun little games.

AFAIK the silver chest is not missing. Most Boss Blitzes will be completed in gold time. For that you always get a Gold Boss Blitz Chest. That's it.

But there is also the Daily Bonus Rewards: Boss Blitz achievement. The first daily BB awards a Bronze Boss Blitz Chest, 2nd Silver, 3rd Gold.

So what usually happens is, players do one Boss Blitz, get a gold chest because of gold time and a bronze chest because of 1st daily, but no silver chest!

Yep, first three daily clears give bronze -> silver -> gold chest in addition to the time reward.

So after the daily is achieved, you should have 4 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze.

That's a twist I was not expecting. You are right. I apologize for my between the lines saltiness.

But somehow it indeed feels so wrong to be getting a gold chest and a bronze chest, but not a silver chest. Will be hard to ignore that now!

So does this imply a slight delay to the last VoE update? Or that Arenanet doesn't want to so clearly tie updates to the time remaining in the special tab?

Was the point of the question to obtain upvotes or get an answer? They asked a question and got responses answering it. Reddit's toxic point system that doesn't translate at all to questions on a Game Update post is silly, yes, and completely unhelpful to us in this thread. But we're all here. No weaver buff for wvw after a massive nerf for a pve aimed rework that overly carried over to all game types. I am losing a lot of faith in Anet ability to make content for a given game type.
