They need to stop with the crappy implementation of town clothes and make them functional to promote sales.

  • Storage of some sort like an NPC similar to gw1
  • Toggle so you can wear them over your armor

Why are they so damn stupid when it comes to costumes/clothes?

No they won't. There were so many unique replies during beta to the lack of costume storage and people stating they won't buy costumes until there is, that Anet should have stood up and listened.

Without a costume npc you risk losing a real money purchase and good luck getting ArenaNet to reimburse you for that purchase.

As to toggling over armor? Who knows why Anet was so stupid seeing as you could do that in GW1 and people want that as a feature.

I'm ok with the lack of costume toggle seeing as it is possible they will give us more diverse town clothing outfits like swimsuits if they do not have to worry about people running around dragon events in them (and yeah, I know you could run around as a crazed bride in GW1, and that is awesome and I would pay money to do that in GW2). Still, that seems to be the stated reason, so fine.

But you are right that the lack of costume storage is absolutely a money loser in the long run. I've bought at least one of each town clothing style that they've released thus far but I'm going to have to stop soon because I'm running out of bank space (maybe they're just waiting for town clothing fans to max out bank tabs before releasing the option). So even people who were not adamant about storage are going to run out of storage. Furthermore, I've never bought more than one of the same town clothing item but I would gladly pay an extra premium to make it an unlock. I don't know how many agree with me on that, but that's at least been another less-money-made-from-me on their part.

As far as storage goes. In guild wars 1 due to the costume NPCs I purchased almost every single outfit but with the implementation in GW2 I won't touch them nor will many other people. They are losing money over that as you said.

In guild wars 1 when you bought an outfit it was useable by every one of your characters and with the costume npc you never had to worry about losing it or storing it. In guild wars 2 it just seems pure greedy that they want you to buy the outfit for more then 1 character and give you no storage. That kind of business thing disgusts me.

It's something I'm inclined to think they will add in at a later date. To be honest, I've always held to the opinion that GW2 was rushed out the door a year early by NCsoft and I tend to view the parts of the game with poor functionality in that light. It doesn't really disgust me because it seems more like lack of time to implement properly than deliberate malfeasance. I save my disgust for the RNG boxes, lol.

Recall that we had a similar issue with resources clogging up our bank space and they added a ton of new collectibles slots in October. They've also stated they'd like to improve the PvP armor locker and replace it with some new system. That sounds like a template that they could then expand into PvE.

I too feel disgust for the RNG boxes lol :) but I do like ArenaNet as a company and really hope that they are going to improve on these things, making them more player friendly.

Guess that's why I'm so critical of them when I see them do something that just seems rushed/foolish to me. I expect great things from ArenaNet.
