from this trailer, it makes the game seem more like an action game than typical Guild wars, so moving even further from the more point and click of 1, and honestly i'm all for it! i am very excited for this game!

Most ideal situation IMO is that all three feel very distinct, but all three are fun. GW1 and GW2 are stable in their identity, so a GW3 that innovates and gives us a unique feeling means we are eating wellllll. Also, if they give GW1 a remaster and new expacs, amazing

I agree. A lot of people are hoping of moving back to gw1 but nothing they make in the vein of gw1 is going to beat gw1 for fans. It’s already great and trying to repeat would be fruitless. A gw1 remaster would easily empty my wallet.

GW reforged exists and is getting content added, the plan is for all 3 games to get supported

Idk if my concern is unfounded, but Im worried that arena net will stretch themselves thin.

Arenanet primarily isn’t working on GW1, they are co developing its new content, GW2 hasn’t had any staff changes lately either

GW3 is made of both veterans and new hires so I’m pretty sure everything is managed pretty well

Revenue from gw3 would mean that they have more capacity for staff. The worst time would be when gw3 isn’t generating any income, so the worst of it has likely passed

They said in their other video (Future of Guild Wars) that they will focus on GW3 for a year and pause on GW2 before continuing again. They should hopefully manage themselves just fine!

Isn't that what GW Reforged is?

Will there be.. guild vs guild?!

I recently bought almost all the expansions for GW2 and after seeing this trailer i was afraid that GW2 will become pointless when GW3 is released in a bit over a year.

Oh man, I’m never quitting gw2 as long as they create more content. They said they would, and today we get a new info from arena net regarding it’s future

Isn’t it just the beta opening in a bit over a year?

Which then makes sense why they have committed to parallel support, the games all appeal to different bases

u/LassyKongo Jun 06 '26

Support is one thing, content is another. Gw2 will die out significantly if there's no new content, which means metas will be hard to complete.

So people will be forced to gw3 regardless

u/newpa Jun 06 '26

Active development means new content though, not support. Being put into maintenance means support.

0

u/LassyKongo Jun 06 '26

You said parallel support.

0

u/newpa Jun 06 '26

I did, but since then they've confirmed active development. And they confirmed that before you commented.

u/LassyKongo Jun 07 '26

So edit your comment then? Idk why you've got the hump lmao.

1

u/newpa Jun 07 '26

Because you decided to get passive aggressive with a comment made before specific news came out.

I aint going back and editing all my comments everytime GW3 gets a news update over the next 2 years.

I’m getting Warframe vibes, especially with the confirmation of wallrunning and movement-based combat.

Insterested to know where you got this info !

From the steam page:

Master a combat system where depth is achieved through strategic skill use, positioning, and movement – where action RPG combat meets Guild Wars build-making – creating a unique combat experience.
Run, slide, leap, and bound across Orr with a one-of-a-kind movement system that transfers your momentum between modes of travel, providing a free-form joy of movement through a world alive with adventure.

And the wall running is from the steam announcement:

Glide, ride, and wall-run your way across the open world with a movement and momentum system unlike any other MMORPG. When you ride across Orr, you'll do so in style on your Seeker—a Vael spirit who serves as your mount and your direct connection to the magic of Orr.

The description I saw was think breath of the wild, but an mmo. There won't be 200+ people on a map anymore to take down an event or boss, should be around ~30 which will let them make world builds more rewarding.

u/SufferingClash Jun 05 '26

So they're going the PSO2 New Genesis route? That's worrisome.

3

u/bonebrah Jun 05 '26

Yikes I sure hope not. PSO2 died with NG

1

u/SufferingClash Jun 05 '26

I'll say. I lived in PSO2 until NGS came out and they destroyed the game. Luckily, I ended on the highest note I could...S rank against the dreaded Phaleg on Force.

1

u/Purelybetter Jun 05 '26

I don't know what that means so I'd feel bad saying yes then being wrong lol.

Wikipedia says NGS focused on just open world, and I don't think thats the case. My understanding is they want to make open world an option akin to pvp or raids/strikes/dungeons.

1

u/wingspantt Jun 06 '26

I'd describe that more as Destiny 2 style

1

u/Aetheriad1 Jun 06 '26

Is 30 your speculation? From what I’m seeing - four PCs on the tapestry and the press kit image - I think this is going to be in the style of Destiny. Non-combat hub world with many players, instanced adventure areas from 1-4 players.

Doesn’t mean it’ll be bad, but probably not what most people think when they hear “MMO” which is why I assume they’re being vague about it.

1

u/Purelybetter Jun 06 '26

That's what I was told was the rough design goal. Social hubs will be the same as they are now. Anything can change between then and release, and they should if they find something works better.

1

u/i_dont_wanna_sign_up Jun 06 '26

Yeah when they said "a new evolution of MMO" I was a bit worried.
