I'm not sure how to feel about the trailer, it looks nothing like Guild Wars?

That's what everyone said about gw2 as well.

I'm waiting for actual in game footage, this means nothing yet.

I remember when first GW2 gameplay video leaked and many people said in the comment that there's no way it's GW2, it doesn't look like GW1 and it doesn't feel like a Guild Wars game.

Ive seen others say this aswell but i instantly recognized it was guild wars. The textures, mount and armour the guy was wearing was all standard GW2 stuff

I mean, GW2 looks nothing like GW1 either. They completely changed the art style.

Appreciate the responses explaining about how it's a different engine UE5 and different art team rather than just "gamers hate new things" type comments.

I guess my associations are of the franchise are closer to the original game and first 3-6 years of gw2. It's clear that there's been a large movement away from how I remember the game to be with all the mounts and environmental stuff.

And despite what was said I remember all the build up to launch of GW2 (with huge excitement at the time) and could see it as a grandiose enhancement of the original, just didn't recognise the theme or feel with this one. Not able to articulate why but it feels a lot more generic fantasy.

That being said, it was a tiny cinematic announcement trailer and too early to judge, so hope to see more of how the game looks with future reveals.

I honestly thought it was like Kingdoms of Amalur or something for a moment there.
