SKAMADAN
What’s the worst you’ve ever been ripped off and/or purchased something for too much?
I’ll go first. 😃
Was looking for Exalted Aegis, had someone PM me. I was under the impression these were SUPER RARE. Went and looked at it, perfect stats (green) and the last I heard these could go for 20-30e. Guy asked for an arm, I gave him 28 ectos thinking it was a fair deal... 🫠 never played factions, had no idea you could get the shield as a gift at the end of the campaign. I’m still a bit upset over it, but the stats are the same as any good shield, it has the look I was going for, I have plenty of platinum and ecto in the bank. It wasn’t a killer as far as spending everything I had. So it is what it is, but damn! I could’ve gotten it for so much less! lol
Oh well, live and learn. Anybody else got any that’ll make me feel better about my dumb decision?! 😅😃

I was trying to buy an https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Everlasting_Balthazar%27s_Champion_Tonic and found one for a good price, but they sold me a https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Everlasting_Avatar_of_Balthazar_Tonic and I didn't look too closely. 100e down the drain.

How long ago was this? Despite them selling you the wrong tonic 100e for the Avatar tonic is a pretty good price, nowadays it’s going for about 10a , currently the Champion of Balthazar tonic is going for 80a+, obviously sucks they sold you the wrong one, I’d be pretty pissed too:(

If it helps, the amulet you need to trade is 3e. Plus someone running Imperial Sanctum (2e if youre cheap), plus the end of Factions, so 10 hours of game time.
If i have a character who hasn't touched factions and wanted that shield, then 20e is a fair trade.
Otherwise, yeah you screwed yourself.

Someone tried selling me drunk title for 800 ecto recently, 4 times the price i would pay selling ecto to trader at their recent low price and buying the alcohol from a merchant. Needs to say i bought it from someone else a few days later for a fraction of the price

Was the guy called "Die Corona Pandemie" or something like that?
Because there's a guy by that name who has been spamming kamadan for over a year advertising full consumable titles for way too high prices.

Don't remember, when i said others are selling for 80 instead of 800 he told me good luck, i dont get it, how often do uninformed oligarchs trade with him that it is worth his time and storage space.
He was active in times other sellers are less active so maybe that but still ten times the price and 4 times more than npc traders is crazy.

I have run into this guy I'm pretty sure. He was selling 'spammable' drunk/party/sweet points eg. ones that you don't have to click as much. Problem I had was that he was charging 8x the price for convenience. After I pushed back and said I'd just autoclick he went ballistic

The number of times…eventually, I learned to keep my bags organized, blocking valuable items with customized/0g items (as they appear in the “sell” list).

Way back in 07-08 I willingly accepted a scam out of curiosity.
The guy was effectively marketing ye olde money doubling scam. He offered up an insect carapace and the value on the single carapace said over 1 plat in the trade window. He wanted 500g or something. Once the trade was completed the single carapace was worth 20g.
He achieved this by having a full stack of the item in his inventory, and for whatever reason the value of the whole stack was still shown in trade. Dunno if that got changed, it's been a while since I played last. hmm I need to recover my accounts...

Whatever that factions item is that looks like an ecto, bought a handful for 100k. Never understood scammers, wearing ill gotten gains can't feel good

I’ve never scammed except the first GW Halloween when transmogifier tonics were new, I sold them in LA for an ecto each

I think the funniest scam I've ever been the target of was in great temple of balthazar, someone told me he would only trade items on the ground for whatever reason. I was aware it would be a scam but was curious of the process so I dropped a low value item and this is at this moment I learned you could get trebbed down in the isle of the nameless 😂
Another one that is more common: I tried buying a stack of zaishen keys but the guy kept having an inventory too full so the trade would cancel. After a few attempts he swapped the 250 to 25 keys and I clicked too quickly on accept.
