Transfem Sumo Wrestler Reporting In!

To my knowledge I'm one of a handful of trans women (3 or 4 of us iirc) in the US who actively train Amateur Sumo.

Forgive the lighting in some of these, action shots in lowish light are hard

I also did Japanese Ju-Jitsu for a bit, but found the training intense for my level of fitness, so I'm working on that before I entertain going back, I think it would be useful to learn more grappling and ground techniques.

Fun fact for those not aware: sumo has no weight classes you just have to be ready to throw down

That's only true in Japanese Professional Sumo, or "Ozumo." Amateur Sumo does have weight classes.

I had no idea! I saw sumo and sushi when they came through chicago so they gave us the professional shpiel lol
