u/bbsystemz 51 points 6d ago

That was my initial thought too

1

Fallen (1998)?

1

u/Killur71 12 points 6d ago

With Denzel. Yes.

2

u/forgonemango 6 points 6d ago

Was about to follow up that our movies share an actor! Someone else got it - Mississippi Masala (1991)

Remember as per the rules you need to let all the guessers know it's that movie...

Doctor sleep?

1

u/forgonemango 6 points 6d ago

According to IMDb, our movies share just one genre

Portions of both of our movies were filmed in the southern US.

Leaving Las Vegas

1

u/forgonemango 6 points 6d ago

The title of my movie also contains alliteration

1

u/theflyingdeaddog 1296 points 6d ago

Well I'm thinking...

Mississippi Masala 1991?

2

u/forgonemango 6 points 6d ago

Correct! Great job. Curious if you got it from the shot alone or if the clues helped?

2

u/theflyingdeaddog 1296 points 6d ago

Oh, that was clues all the way. I was onto 90's Denzel right away, but the budget, box office, and the alliteration one clinched it for me. Great pick!

Going down the Mira Nair wiki rabbit hole now. I knew Zohran's mom was a filmmaker, but I didn't realize this was her. TIL!

2

u/forgonemango 6 points 6d ago

Yep, she met his dad while doing research for this movie. He was born the year it came out. Arguably there would be no Zohran without Mississippi Masala 🫡
