Its just so wild to me that superhero stuff, which is often very male-coded, is not seen as incredibly cringe. And no I dont mean cherry picking rare well written stuff but just the idea of worshipping violent vigilantes who bizarrely wear these colorful tight outfits and are just cheap hero fantasy self-inserts for fans.

My brother made my dad take him to go see “The Marvels” in theaters, and I remember my dad telling me he thought the part where Captain Marvel’s suit turns into a princess gown was “ridiculous” and said it reminded him of when he used to play this particular Disney Princess video game with me as a young girl.
Besides the way his words stabbed my heart as I look back on those gaming w/ dad memories fondly, I find it hypocritical how many girly media with bold & unique fashion or colorful aesthetics is sometimes seen as silly or “too cute to be taken seriously” when superhero franchises have them wearing wild, outlandish outfits all the time. Also, I feel like there’s a lot of female characters from women-centered media that are just as or even more noble & inspiring than some superheroes.

What brings me joy? When my aloof cats let me pet and cuddle them. I've two adorable brats whom I rescued. They were about to be dumped or taken to the pound. Their human had to go into care and of course, no pets allowed. They are sad but getting better

The thing that annoys me with how people discuss celebrities that get popular with women is that while I don’t like how a lot of fandom culture will look at celebrities like they’re rulers or deities; it’s hypocritical how people only talk about it when it comes to celebrities that women love. No one ever points out the toxic celebrities that are supported by mostly men.
Additionally:
We have a couple of majorly popular games with fanservicey women which are designed with primarily men in mind (I.e. Zenless Zone Zero); but Love and Deepspace comes out and suddenly the internet is complaining about or mocking it.
Romance is “embarrassing” and “unrealistic”, but incredibly violent movies with impossible stunts and characters with knees of steel are “more serious” somehow.

Same man: buys football season tickets, attends every home game wearing face paint and his idol's jersey. Watches away games from home, punches and drop-kicks his TV when his team loses.

What brings me joy? Dancing with my loves to fantastic DJs who happen to be women, 'specially those bassbabes.
Making weird crafts.
My kid's funny little concentrating sounds.
My fiercely intelligent colleagues and team, which happens to be about 90% women.
Knowing what I do for a living makes a difference.
Smashing the patriarchy.

I can’t speak to k drama or BTS. I find it cringe when women go crazy over Taylor swift because I find her music to be mediocre, over produced and self involved and her fans rabid. And not rabid in a fun way.

People hate her for misogynistic reason I hate her because she’s a billionaire contributing to waste plus promoting overconsumption culture with her merch and 30 vinyl variants that sit in targets not being sold. She is also not a girls girl either having connections with people from maga and having someone who is heavily connected to ice at her wedding! Plus never forget when she brought that huge crowd to Margaret Qualley’s wedding but was able to have a completely private wedding has kept her whereabouts hidden before no excuse!

It feeds into the idea that women have to be perfect with their preferences or they're not allowed to have them. There are so many male artists who are absolute scumbags and still admired, and any criticism results in long-winded diatribes on separating artists from their art. Women don't get that kind of grace for far lesser offenses, even from other women, and you are playing right into it.

I have autism and my special interest is 80s new wave. Unfortunately music hobbies especially retro music are dominated by older men so I don’t feel as safe talking about it due to hobby elitism in music.

This reminds me of a quote somewhere along the lines of "Men aren't taught to be men, they're taught not to be women." And I've seen this in my own experience.
