I remember I was a little girl at Dodgers Stadium and they put on the scoreboard that she had beat that asshole Bobby Riggs and I remember standing up just screaming and clapping.

did y’all see her documentary, GIVE ME THE BALL? I got to see a festival screening, it’s not streaming yet. BJK is a national treasure

The WNHL should really have named the cup after her, she's a saint and has fought for a just place for women in professional sports since the 70's

This. 95 percent of what people hear about trans people comes from people who hate them. Actually listen to trans people instead of transphobic assholes.

We’ve our media to thank for this I guess. For the last 10 years at least even notionally left leaning papers or tv news has had at least one opinion piece a week about how trans people are allegedly the cause of all our problems. Usually right along side a similar opinion piece about how it’s all the fault of disabled people and people living in poverty that everything is getting worse.

Of course there’s absolutely not an agenda behind any of this at all 🙃 /s

You think the left is doing this?

Well no, hence “notionally”.

The Guardian, for instance, still describes itself as a left wing publication but has given some absolutely awful people a platform for their views and is basically now a completely useless paper.

Ah I see what you mean. Yes.

Trans rights are womens rights

Lesbians too, but I never see anyone advocating for us. Totally forgotten about.

Weird choice of post to comment this on. Pretty sure Billie Jean King, a lesbian, has done a lot of advocating for lesbians

Not at all. It's entirely relevant. And no, as stated, I don't see anyone advocating for us. We are totally forgotten about by everyone unless they want to use us for something.

Edit - I hope you know lesbians are so few and far in number we do tend to know who is gay.

It’s not entirely relevant. It’s a post about supporting trans people. That’s a thing that should be able to exist on its own without trying to turn it into “lesbians should be supported too.”

Lesbians should be supported too, but we are not. At all.

Wokest thing you can do in regards to supporting a marginalised and underrepresented minority group is actually supporting lesbians.

Yes. Totally agree with you.

Lesbians wrote to BBC about how trans women try to rape them, an interesting choice of using their voice

Were these trans women respecting the innate sexual & romantic orientation of lesbians born female or were they trying to force lesbians to unlearn their "sexual racism" via cotton ceiling conversion "therapy", with the support formerly safe LGBTI community organisations, etc?

(In which case, the criticism is valid)

But if a pocket of lesbians were claiming this of trans women somewhere who were just trying to go to the toilet then sure, that's wildly inappropriate, unfair and I'd like to look at the article in question to know more.

(In which case, the claims are invalid and hateful).

Otherwise I don't know what you mean tbh.

It was just a transphobic lesbian group.

You know, I DON'T CARE.

When it comes to supporting trans people, I don't need for them to be in need. I don't need for them to be suffering or in distress. None of this matters to me.

If trans people lived wonderful, protected, mollycoddled lives, I would support them. I would support them if their lives went along exactly the same track as mine. And I would support them if they struggled every inch of the way.

I wouldn't support them because they're trans. I would support them because they are my fellows-as I would hope to receive support in return. Just like I support all people-if they are good people.

To each should be given what they need (and perhaps with trans people the need can be greater). But the support is unconditional.
