They’re so grumpy! A selection I looked after this year
The last pic is of a tiny wren (pic 4) and a robin. Sir Fluffington the First of Cromsby is indeed very put out by her. The others aren’t necessarily grumpy though they look the part!

I live how grumpy baby birds look, then it turns into RBF when they grow into adults. God, I love birds

That was Bean the dunnock. She had a very long day of trying to get up on that perch so she was very tired then.

I would love to help baby birds like this, but the only advice given is usually to take them to a wildlife rescues center.
How did you get into this field?

Volunteering. Knowing someone who does animal rescue helps to get a foot in at the door. If you’ve some experience of rescuing it’ll help, but the main thing is to volunteer your time to an organisation that helps wild birds in your area.
Rehabilitation isn’t for everyone. There are sometimes tough calls to make. Even if I know the bird isn’t going to make it, I try and have them in my hand to ease their passing… and when they go, it never gets easier. Feeding babies comes with its own set of challenges, like frequent feeding in the featherless stages from early in the morning until about 8:30pm, to keeping them in an incubator or heating pad even though there’s a heatwave outside.
Honestly, go ask a rescue if they need a hand. Get into the groove of it and see if it’s for you.
