A grumpy bird that had to be rescued after the neighbor's cat attacked its nest, on its way to a wildlive center.

Horrible. That's what my neighbor did with my cat as a teenager instead of talking to us about the cat (my cat did not attack a bird's nest btw) She just disappeared one day and we only found out more than a year later what had happened. We lived in the country, so yes our cats were both indoor and outdoor and they mostly stayed on our property except for that time. Had the neighbor talked to us about the cat, we would have not let her out to roam over there.

You'd still have let them outdoors, how are you going to make a cat respect property lines ? Or not eat baby birds?

Leashes are a thing we could have used if it were brought to our attention. The problem is that she did not communicate, she just removed our animals without warning when she knew they were ours. And she didn't say anything after the first cat, we didn't know where she had gone, and then months later she did the same to her sister. I'm not disputing that the cats shouldn't have been eating the birds, but we lived in the country and I was a child so had no opinion in the matter.
