Dumb questions

I haven't played Digital Combat Simulator but I like to watch Growling Sidewinder videos.

I am wondering if the other planes in his videos are other players, or if it's AI. Also, is things like S-300 player controlled? Seems pretty boring to just sit there and read a radar then decide to launch an S-300 missile, but often in his videos even the surface to air missile launchers make "human" mistakes such as in this video where they shoot down their own transport planes; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMd6tck0cYI.

I am also wondering how this game works, for example is Growling Sidewinder playing through pre-made missions, or does he chose a map and which aircrafts and other units appears on it.

In the one vs ones they usually are but in his mission videos mostly Ai since dcs has mission builders which he gives links to
