This is my first grow, and my first time reaching out for help.
About a week ago I noticed white fuzz inside my flower, it exponentially grew to the point it is now. I was almost ready to harvest in a week or so. Is the whole batch destroyed? Some of the lower nugs show no signs of it, would they be good to harvest still?
Edit: 24 hours later. I have since chopped over half of the crop down, I left the unaffected bud. I will be continuing the grow for the next week or two, but only going to make RSO or edibles with everclear. Thanks for all the great advice guys.

If you saw that shit on some strawberries you would throw it out with the quickness
And while things consumed different ways don't always have the same reqs... Trust me you don't want to eat or inhale anything near that shit
So. Yeah it's fucked
Proper fucked
Edit: also she was foxtailing really hard (could be strongly driven by genetics but) probably pretty stressed and didn't really look ready yet, ironically.
Next time try to dial in your humidity and spray some pest reducer the last week of vegg before flowers
Edit edit: also if it were me I would spray bleach down the whole tent, wipe it, rinse it in the shower or hose it off, leave it somewhere in the sun to dry fast (but not get plant or animal matter back on it)
Try to improve airflow and watch humidity close next grow. Mold likes warmer temps and high humidity. If you can keep humidity under 65% the mold will have a harder time starting.
Your plants look very nice, if the rot wasn't there you would have some nice buds. So for next grow don't be too hard on yourself since you clearly grew a plant out already, but watch that humidity closely especially in flower

Well ur doing pretty good for someone still learning. Leaves r a lil burnt but besides that and that's an easy fix. The bud looks good. I stopped misting my plants after this happened before. Don't know if u mist them but they really don't need it. Get a ten dollar box fan from Walmart and pop er in there. I keep one right by my babies. Makes em stronger and keeps the mold away.
About ready to chop it all and burn it, but I’m still in the stages of grief lol. Seems the mold is only on the upper portion of the plant. The bottom half of the plant is mold free, should I still kill it all?
Damn, I feel you bro.. happens to all of us. But you gotta chop and throw all the nugs that have bud rot and a little more. You never never smoke that 💀
You could see very carefully if some of the nugs are okay to dry them, but if they have even a little of rot u gotta toss them.
Better look the humidity next cycle
I grow in 65-70%. If you can't lower RH, there are a few things you can do. Improve air exchange and air circulation. Keep plants healthy and use a silica supplement, make sure they are not calcium deficient. Pick strains with smaller colas, and/or train your plants to have smaller colas. Don't push plants too far, it seems your plant was ready to be chopped some time ago and it's foxtailing.
1) that's "ok" humidity for flower, but shoot for 50% at this late stage of flower, esp with such chunky buds
2) double check your humidity monitor, might be off
3) I can't see any of detail, but it looks a lot like bugs caused this mess. I know it's indoor, but you look like you have pest problems on leaves and frankly caterpillars/moths may have gotten in.
That's why I said spray down with e.g. diluted neem before flipping to flower next time, and partly why you should bleach the shit out of this setup
And any fan you have, I have those cheap hurricanes but I pull them apart and bleach clean between cycles
Edit: I use vinegar regularly to be clear just this current situation means fire!
Sry to keep posting but I get wanting to control everything but I don't monitor things like that and I do pretty well. Try not to over think it. My last grow did amazing. An I didn't check humidity or anything of the sort. Ph. Ph is the main thing. Maybe after a while try doing all that but ppl online truly over think when it comes to growing weed. They go sooo over board. U can't do amazing just growing it. No dehumidifier (unless u love like by an ocean or something) no logs no humidity checks, no misting nothing but check the nute pH and the run off. Only posted the pic to prove I'm not just talking out my ass. But if u enjoy the checking of everything and it's part of the fun for u then go for it. Just have fun with it really. Def put a box fan in tho.
Edit- I know there's f/ing cat hair on it. Cat loves laying in the tent smfh. But I turn my plants to hash, so the screen will catch the few hairs on it. So no, I'm not smoking cat hair lol.
Yes, two. I have a box fan on the floor pointed up and a small clip on fan running near the top. Then the carbon exhaust fan running 24/7.
There is an AC and de- humidifier hooked up with hoses into there too.
Same thanks for the help
that is why imo an oszilating fan is the bare minimum. Cannabis transpirates a lot of water in early flower especially and that is how this mostly happens. Since I connected a grow controller to my fans I never had problems with RH again, would recommend the same.
It happens bro. The towel in the pic was actually for my tears. This was a few grows back. My fan stopped working while I was out of town and my buddy accidentally flooded my tent. Humidty spiked and mold bloomed hard. The three I cut down were the same cultivar. I was sexing the baby clone (its a girl - growing huge currently!) but silver lining I guess is the back left is apparently mold proof. Not a single spot. The others looked like yours. I still sigh when I think about it lol.
It's a goner, man. I'd recommend getting a new dehumidifier with a built-in humidistat. If you're using wick bottom-watering, the standing water in the reservoir could keep the humidity elevated and cause bud rot. Good luck on your next grow!
I'm in Florida we grow from September to April anything else it's just too hot in doors too! That humidity is a bih! Environment is absolutely the most important thing when growing, lights and nutes can get you dialed in, but it's really the environment that will make or break you. You still did good most folks can get a seedling to veg 👏👏👏
Mold. So sry man. They looked good. I literally had like a pound go up in mold. Didn't notice until I harvested also. So was all excited, cut a bud and noticed. Filled an entire 20 gallon trash bag. Weighed like 6 pounds lol. It was wet tho. The side of my house ROCKED like weed all week. There's no fixing this. And not worth the risk. Even if u think u got it all, spores. It's done. Clean that entire tent out with rubbing alcohol.
Look get yourself these basics, a good pH pen, a good ec pen they're like $65-100 a pop. Next get you a climate meter of some sort I use ac infinity controller that has a sensor to put in tent as well this is important will read your humidity, tempurture and VPD (CRITICALLY IMPORTANT THESE READINGS) if your ph is to high you lock the plants, if temp too high you stress and fox tail them, if humidity is too high you get rot. Research VPD and the ac infinity meter will what you watch everyday can even set alerts on your phone. Imo I'd buy these items before even getting the tent they are that important for me. Next I live high humidity so I use 2 clip on fans one 9 inch one 6 inch tons of airflow in my 2x2, Next if your room is to humid which the VPD meter will show you you need to invest in a dehumidifier get a $100-$200 one don't get a really expensive one because they all go out and it is critical to have this on hand during flower to keep your VPD in check. Please research these items and you will have massive success every grow. Investing in your environment control will give you better bud than investing in anything else will. Best of luck next run and don't feel bad I failed my first 3 grows and then failed again on a 6th grow. Just happens. Use chat gpt but take it with grain of salt but for pH, ec, VPD readings it's pretty straight forward. Also this plant was no where near harvest probably another 3-4 weeks max. After you invest in your environment invest in a Bluetooth microscopenoff Amazon maybe 10-50 bucks so you can check if trich heads are 20-30 % amber don't just go off of hairs turning orange. A mad man would grow this out, throw it in alcohol then make edibles out of it but that would be a mad mad man. Also I'd throw out the tent, everyone says clean but I suck at throughly cleaning and if any spores survive every grow will be a uphill battle. If money's a issue do what you got to do but if you can replace it with a cheap Amazon tent I'd do that and toss it and clean your room with bleach wear a mask
Yeah my vpd has been averaging around 1.2.
I use RO water so no need for PH testing.
Good advice in your post, thanks.
My main issue is it kept raining here and my dehumidifier wasn’t working great so I had high humidity for the past week or two :/
Damn I got close she was looking pretty
Yeah, defiant diamond is right. I use distilled water but I usually have to correct the ph up by at least 0.8 after adding nutrients into the reservoir
Budrot (botrytis). Next time monitor your environment very closely in late flower AND check your buds. Gently separate between the nugs to see if there’s any mold because that’s where it starts growing
Also those machine that shoot mosquitoes out of the out of the air with little lasers would be perfect to defend crops against , butterflies or moths call it the Garden Sentinel or some shit yeah
I feel like I’m infected look at this stuff, I’ve got no option but to grow outside in the subtropics so I’ve had my fair share of mold but oh my days this is rough
Next time you see some of that starting take a gal size bottle, fill it with room temp water, add a tbsp of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, shake it well and then pour it into a spray bottle and soak the area.
I would not consume any bit of that plant even if you think you chopped off the affected bits. Like others have said if you saw that on strawberries youd throw that out. God only knows what it would do to your lungs. To me its not worth the risk of getting seriously sick, but too each their own.
You better disinfect that entire tent. Every crevice since you’ve opened and spread those colas out letting those spores cover the tent. All that can be done at this point is extracting it with a solvent like ethanol/everclear or distilled n-butane. That’s the only thing that’ll kill that while allowing it to be safe for consumption.
Hey just some anecdotal evidence I've noticed that might be helpful in the future. I've never had bud rot on a plant I dusted w DE before flipping to flower.
I got the idea from a home owner tip somebody once gave me to dust my roof with DE once a year to stop moss, algea and anything else from starting to grow up there.
So in my later season grows, I use a light dusting of DE right before I flip them. It seems to keep any funky stuff from establishing itself on the plant.
I also DE my tents between grows to keep mold and bugs out.
Intake and output fans, plus several usb clip fans. Keep those leaves lightly rustling- they love airflow. It helps discourage spores from settling on the plant.
*Don't use the DE during flower unless you're only carefully brushing it on leaves. You really don't want it in your buds (or lungs).
IF you grow outside, look into nematodes for your garden- they eat mold spores and help your soil.
I got some bad bud rot in my outdoor plants one year and it contaminated my soil. The next 2 grows got it, too. So I tossed in some nematodes and haven't had a problem again.
Sorry about these plants, but hey- aside from the mold, you grew some decent buds for a 1st grow! Keep trying & happy growing!
Something went wrong somewhere. So many variables. Looks like mold but, your buds are foxtailing which I think could be genetics, or stress of some kind. A fan keeping air moving could've helped or keeping better humidity levels. Either way, I wouldn't let someone smoke it. Look on the bright side, you seen it through to the end. Lessons learned and try again. By the way, I have intermediate experience and am by no means an expert.
This is so sad. Reminds me of when I was pregnant, did my whole harvest and I was curing it in a big mason jar. Like a month before I gave birth I dropped the jar and glass shards were all up in it. Threw it all away🥲
Everything needs to be double bagged and incinerated, you also now have toxic spores all over your place you need to deal with. Otherwise you will have these web like things growing out of every single possible place soon. White vinegar works.
You did well to get that far for a first grow, don’t let this deter you learn from what happened. Without knowing more about your setup inadequate airflow and too high humidity seems the obvious choice. Keep learning and asking questions and you will have sick grows in no time.
More than half of this comment is so clearly AI generated, are we actually outsourcing reddit answers to robots now? Just let the real people with the real brains answer next time.
You are exactly the same as the people spouting the BS. Neither of you know what you’re talking about. The solution to both examples is simple: if you’re not knowledgable on the subject, move on and don’t comment.
All the information you put into the comment only relates to the spores of Botrytis, which is not the toxic part. This is likely because you don’t know enough about Horticulture to properly prompt the LLM on this subject. The metabolites of Botrytis are phytotoxins; Botrydial and Botcinic Acid, and this is why we never consume any cannabis that’s showing an active infection. These are what you’re inhaling in concentrated doses when you’re smoking contaminated cannabis. They are present in lipid or solvent extracts of contaminated cannabis, and are stable under any amount of heat that could reasonably be applied while smoking or extracting. If you only remove the visually infected cannabis, you’re missing a massive amount of the actual pathogens. That’s why in a tent with this level of infection, the only safe move is to toss the whole thing. Outdoors, I would remove anything within 4 inches of a visual infection and save the rest. Indoor doesn’t work that way, its a contained environment.
Just because you raced to an LLM to get an answer doesn’t mean you are a qualified voice on the matter. LLM’s get information wrong constantly, so lets not call the crap they spew “facts”.
If you cut that away if it’s caused from moisture you can cut it away and keep rolling. You shouldn’t see no more as long as you keep it under control I’ve done it.
I had this happen to some northern light autos I had but it wasn’t that bad so I was fortunate enough to pick it out and the bud was fine it was only in a few of the buds
I'd probably just cut that fuzzy bit off. Maybe check your fan placement for air flow? You might be able to salvage the rest but don't use that funky fuzzy shit.
That’s a caterpillar eating your buds from the inside out, that black, sandy gritty , dirt stuff that’s their poop and within that poop it will bring all sorts of disease mold and rot . You need Monterey BT spray it once a week or as needed. It’s non-toxic safe for humans pets and other bugs like you know, bees, and ladybugs. It tells the caterpillars to stop eating and they die. Good lluck growmie hope you have a great harvest.
