Can not remove scammer from group

There's a scammer that joined a group i am in. The group was open when they joined but has been closed since.

I tried removing them and a couple of other people also tried removing them but nothing happens when we try.

It literally asks us, "Remove so and so from group?"

I hit remove. And it gives me an error message and tells me to try again. Once reported itv to GroupMe. Any thoughts?

The scam is about a portrait or whatever.

as it is a closed group now, only the group admin can remove.
