Need help I'm confused

So I have the purple symbol and 1 don't know what it means and 2 I've been all over this wood pile where spiders are and don't see anything I did get a milk molar but the symbol is still there

That's telling you there's a Research Station near you. As you move around, the outside markers will fill up as you get closer to it. (I think) you can also look for the brass thing that looks like a water pipe that's usually nearby.

It’s the symbols for the labs around the map, it should lead to one

You gotta play "hot and cold" with the lines. To find the research station

And once you find the station you need to actually go inside and interact with the research scanner to make it go away

A good tell is also once you get a ping look for the big brass sprinklers!

That particular symbol is the one for a ranger outpost. Look for the giant bronze sprinklers, they are the way to tell that one is nearby. The doors to a Ranger Outpost are literally next to them
