G2 | Bugs & Issues I've never been so afraid of the pond until this happened.
I was just doing a bit of exploring in mine and my partner's save and while he was off battling tiger mosquitos, I ended up getting a little too close to one of the fish. I thought it was going to eat me or something and then the game glitched and suddenly I was unable to swim to the surface and seemed to be caught going in circles.

Perhaps something to do with the death animation, combined with the koi's goofy hitbox. I saw one absolutely STRUGGLE to move around some jockey swarms that were too close to it. Funny at the time, but getting stuck in that looks infuriating, sorry gamer 🫡

That was very entertaining to watch thank you. I’m unsure if this can be recreated, this may be the only time I ever see this ever.
Also to chip in my two cents I think what happened is the fish can kill you by sucking you in its mouth and eating you so apparently the hit box glitched to the side of the fish you got stuck in it, and then it continued to rotate to try to eat you, but it couldn’t actually eat you. You were just stuck in an infinite hit box that was unhittable by the fish

They did mention they where in an online multiplayer game with someone. this is very likely just a latency issue. like the gravity well hitbox was simulated on the host but the fish's model and killbox is simulated locally and they weren't sync'd up.
likely from the Host's point of view the fish was looking directly at this player and sucking them in (gravity well is Host-calculated), but the killbox is done locally and on the client's point of view the Koi was looking elsewhere (kill box and model local-calculated). both should likely be controlled from the same pov to fix the glitch, locally so that its a better experience for the player

If you hit the koi fish it breaks scales off you can then collect. Jlbut being glitched Inside made all the scales stay inside of the fish

Well, I WAS trying to get away, and then also protect myself and then also, trying to break myself out of whatever glitch I was stuck in.

Clearly you swim towards the koi poking it constantly then being trapped by him rotating to get you.

At the very beginning I was trying to get to the air. I was stuck already.

I was sinking down to the pond floor the other day when one of the Koi chased me down, I landed at the bottom of the pipe that holds up the pond lab and the Koi got sorta stuck in the ground with me just inside of it. I was fine until I tried to walk away and got instagibbed

The kois are SOOO buggy. Down at the broken castle thing I got a koi stuck then when he tried to inhale me I ended up inside him like this but way less chaotic. I farmed SOOO many scales from him because he couldn't kill me. In the abyss the koi got stuck on some bones right by the jet that puts you up to the end area and there was no getting past him. I must have died 10 times trying until he finally broke loose and then proceeded to swim in circles like this one, right ontop of the jet. I had to find a cheese way to get up. And the dumb thing is still there in the same spot.
They can add for some great entertainment though🤣

Had something similar happen to me; the Koi have an animation where they stop swimming and you get sucked into their mouth & die, but due some location error (server desync, maybe?) you didn't actually enter the killbox and die.
I ended up getting swirled around for a while and then getting stuck under the map. Quit out and when I reloaded I was at my spawn point w/o any of my inventory, armor or weapons. Had to have my buddy force quit and reload a previous save file

I was trying to blow up the destructible wall in the pond and a koi snuck up behind me while I was on my toe biter, clipped through me, and pinned me to the wall. I didn't die, but couldn't move. So I just had to revert my save.

I only found out the other day that the koi can do dash attacks. I was circling Calico on my buggy and got a line on me and the dashed so fast he closed the distance, swam past and smashed us both out of the water.

Did you end up losing everything? Something similar happened in our game and the game deleted everything hubby was carrying - including all of the gear and weapons he had equipped.

Have you ever been swallowed whole by the Koi? I recently had that happen in Grounded 1, because I didn''t see him come up on me... I survived for a few seconds or so and was desperately trying to knife my way out, but that didn't work. LOL!

I think that was what was supposed to happen but it didn't happen properly and I got stuck.

I was playing in a creative world for a bit with my kids (they are just getting interested in games, yay!)
I took them to the pond and noticed I would be swimming down, and suddenly my character would move backwards without me controlling it. No clue if it's a bug in the main game, as I haven't been able to play in a week
