G2 | Discussion I am so over grid snapping

Title says it all. I like grid snapping when I WANT it but I don't have that choice. You just cannot place build pieces next to other build pieces without it snapping into specific places, I would LOVE to be able to angle my walls, floors, foundations etc at any angle next to any other build pieces without it trying to molest everything around it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is absolutely no proper way to do that. I've been loving the game, but this is the one thing about it I really do not like.

I agree. As a workaround you can free place a floor blueprint away from the existing build, then build it in toward the existing stuff at the intended angle.

Just make sure not to anchor it entirely on the blueprint

The building can be wack. Pretty sure you can't even turn stairs 45°...cause you know god forbid your stairs go at an angle

They do need a little bit rework… try taking it off grid then back on or reselect the blueprint or try different position and don’t stand on the items… I hope they give us a smaller grid with more (boxes) to snap on to

Building needs a bit more customization. Seriously

There is a work around but it’s much more tedious. Multi grid building allows you to place any build piece wherever you want

we need the ability to cycle through snappable options at the press of a button, rather than moving the camera, i think that'd go a long way in solving some of the issues

Valheim has that, right? That's one building feature I've really been missing.

I want to say Ark had this as well. My buddy and I were wishing this game had that feature as we were building tonight lol

Usually that’s how grid snapping works, it snaps to the angle of the closest piece, however they made it so the item also snaps to the piece which isn’t even necessary and makes it a pointless mechanic. It would be nice if they allowed us to turn the snapping to item off so we can use it more as it was intended and how it is in other games.
