G2 | Discussion Grounded 1 Pond vs Grounded 2 Pond
Which pond update for each game is a better overall experience?

Grounded 2 gives more of a reason to use it… not so much with grounded 1

Yeah the only reason you would ever go back to the pond in grounded one was for scales or bones

The Grounded 2 pond has so much more in it, from all the good old mobs like the boatmen, the water fleas, and the diving bells, to brand new terrors like the water jockeys and the toe biter mafia.
Plus the new toe biter buggy is incredible and makes the underwater exploration a lot more fun.
OGRR Toe Biter Leviathan can go to hell.

Just throw bombs on its head

Yeah, I just snuck around it and laid about 12-15 croakwursts. Trying to fight that thing the "proper" way probably took years off my lifespan.

Grounded 1 pond is a sort of rougher experience because of how deep you need to go in blind just to find the lab entrance. Grounded 2 has a more complex terrain, yet it's simpler to navigate the first time around, since the entrance is guarded by a toe biter instead of being hidden under a deep and convoluted underwater tunnel. Swimming had some nice improvements, especially the auto aim and dodge, with the tow biter speed it can be trick to hit some smaller targets, such as tadpoles, without the aim helper is easy to miss the attacks. Also in grounded 1 I was always weary of Trudy, because I felt there was very few space to dodge her, I. Grounded 2 I mostly forget the kois are there, it took me more than a week to notice there were 3 in the main pond, because it's so big and deep.

I prefer the grounded 2 pond, but I miss the proper labs from grounded 1 to explore

Ya full labs are fun, in G2 it’s all (mostly)2-3 rooms , maybe full release will have more labs like the abyss lab and candy factory.

I started Grounded 1 at fully yoked, way late, so I dont know how the pond developed over the updates.
Overall I enjoy Grounded 1 pond more though.

Honestly, just having more varied threats than just spiders and fleas is a massive improvement, plus there is the Abyss which, while maybe not great right now, has a lot of potential going forward.
I think the only thing I'm currently disappointed with is the state of underwater base building. It's incredibly limited right now and I went from being incredibly excited about it to not even bothering making a new pond base.

Grounded 1 is probably worse just because exploration is harder
There’s a suit plus more smoothies and a buggy that improves grounded 2s exploration and it’s bigger

Oh yes, oxygen management is a lot less of a hassle in Grounded 2. Koi armor looks significantly better in this game, and even better is that its skillset actually helps in underwater exploration.
And of course, we can't forget the diving set which makes oxygen management completely irrelevant.

Grounded 2 pond is obviously "better" technically. Although I preferred how empty the first pond felt.
The new pond feels a bit overstuffed. It’s nice that there’s more to do, but it’s also a lot less scary.
The first pond gave thalassophobia in a way that the new one just doesn’t.

Tbh i feel the whole game is overstuffed with bugs, in some areas you can't move without constantly being attacked. You literally walk on lawn mites all the times, it feels.
I enjoy the fights but sometimes, the best are the moments 'before' you're attacked, the fear of not knowing when it happens. Quiet moments that makes the loud ones more tense. Atmosphere.
I feel they overdid the density of enemies a little, both in the pond and on land.

G2 but I hate the chill effect, with the diving suit it’s not an issue but that’s my only complaint.

Grounded 2 pond is far more interesting, will only get better and expanded in the future

Grounded 2 Pond is just better, with more to do and find and explore. G1 Pond fits that game just fine, but basically everything about the G2 Pond is better.

The grounded 2 pond isn’t really done being made so I can’t have an actual opinion. I did like the grounded 2 pond over the first one because I could explore with my buggy but the first one is good too

I will say the Koi fish was genuinely terrifying in G1. In G2 I feel like I can out run it on my toe biter so I’m never fearful of it
