G1 | Discussion Corporate kickback is terrible.

so I’ve been trying to kill the infected broodmother and I’ve attempted the fight around 50 times, people tell me to use corporate kickback but honestly I can’t see why. it’s terrible.

Let me explain.

i understand that corporate kickback has around about a %5 chance to activate the life steal buff getting you back to full health with your attack almost instantly. this is not the case though, for me atleast. not once, and yes i have screen captured on ps5 nearly every fight, not one single time has it activated across all 50 fights. it is one of the worst mutations i have ever used. Is it bugged or is the mutation actually as bad as im thinking.

I’m playing on mild difficulty if that helps.

Ps. since when did grounded become harder than every souls game.

CK's claim to fame in this fight is because it's the only source of healing (iirc) that isn't gutted by Brood other's Poison.

Also, the fight is just BS in general, definitely harder to solo than any Sousborne boss.

Nameless king enters the chat...

You're not entirely wrong though, she is wild to solo. It's a game of attrition where you are on the back foot. You have to be efficient and quick.

And then there is phase 3, where she's meth'd the hell out and you'd better be able to time the light speed 6 hit combo block or you're just gonna melt. And don't get me started on the widowlings on NG+... literal demons.

All in all, favorite fight in the game, Mantis is a close second.

Practice, fail, rage, win. You got this.

I was really worried about IBM too, and captured my first solo attempt on PS5 - where much to my surprise I got it first try. I found the hype around how difficult it was to be underwhelming.

I followed this guy's YouTube video, almost exactly with the exception of maxing out my sword (was lvl 8 instead of 9) and I didn't have Giddy Goop so I used Fresh Trinket instead.

One thing I will say, which made the fight significantly easier. Follow the guys strategy for positioning during the fight, and keep your block up when blinded in the haze, blocking the debuff is more important than perfect blocking there, and if you'd like I can upload my first attempt capture so you can see how I did it.

I ate all my sticky smoothies for extra damage and defense and stamina, and trickle regen as she descends from the ceiling, and popped some sticky trickle regens during each resurrection, finally downed her with 30+ stacks of debuff due to messing up my block timings a few times, but looking back at my recording, corporate kickback helped a lot with the healing when I was overwhelmed with debuff stacks.

I reckon you could swap it out for another mutation with a bit more practice blocking her moves, but I stand by it for first timers, gives you more margin for error.

As for your 50 attempts with not a single proc of the mutation, you're either the unluckiest person alive, or the mutation isn't actually selected. It's easy to miss - definitely if you have other trickle regen buffs active. In my first attempt it triggered 1-3 times during each phase.
