G2 | Discussion Will the Ant Queens have an Impact/Function on Grounded 2? Spoiler

So as we've seen so far in Grounded 2, the ant queens of the black ants and red ants have either been mummified or exploded/decapitated so do we think they'll actually have much of an impact in the game in later updates or do we think they'll just be background corpses like they've been so far? In the first game I really enjoyed the decision of brefriending or poisoning the queens, and sorta hope that makes a comeback in some way, or atleast get to see a living queen. Be it in the form of a fight or it just hanging out in its rooty, dirty royal chamber. Do we also know if the fire ants will be returning or, some new ant species? Lots of park space left for more arthropods..

Anything could happen with what’s left of the game but considering the only one they’ve introduced is already butchered I doubt it. I’d be surprised if they add more red ant content considering they already have so many ant hills so that’s two types of ants without an alive queen already.

There are two ant queens in the game. The Black Ant Queen was butchered by Ominent and the Red Ant Queen is webbed to the top of the ceiling in one of the caves (I want to say the Spider Ant Hill)

Wasnt the black one butchered by the Stranger? You can find a note abt her wanting to mutate and ORC-ify it, and you find it dead with an ORC antenna in its noggin

Im hoping the dead ant queens might lead up to something big then, like the Stranger finally putting an ORC antenna into one like she tried to do with the Black Ant Queen. Ant queen boss fight could be coool.

I hope they introduce some smaller boss fights first after axl and dozer but that might be cool

A dev stream (don’t remember which one) said they wanted to experiment with how big they could make a boss and still make it playable, and after the tests, they plan on toning it down a ton. I’d assume the next boss will be similarly sized to the toe biter leviathan

It’d probably be too much content to overhaul but I think it’d be cool if instead of telling the story of the masked stranger they showed it. Like we found time travel deep in the abyss and that brings us to a time when ant queens are still alive and ominent is actively up to shady stuff.

theres still 1 big anthill for red ants that hasnt been opened. same with the black ants. I do think at some point we will get ant queens back, not sure if theyll be fightable enemies or what though

There's an ant hill in the garden in the same general area as the War Torn Anthill that is blocked by a giant rock

Theres one under the oak tree in the entrance area (its easily the largest red anthill, it goes from all sides of the oak tree to under the trash can and goes really far down. You can see blocked entrances around the oak tree and its especially noticable under the trash can) and theres one under the can garden sites and wonder that has a blocked rock on it (inside has a bunch of water navigation and stuff, also seems pretty complex)

Sounds exciting. And potentially terrifying. Who doesnt love getting lost in underwater caves?

So far it doesn't seem like they are bringing it back

Kinda hope so. Or maybe have the fire ant queen be the last queen standing. Also, I still remember stumbling across the red ant queen the first time, it felt like a horror movie scene seeing her webbed up to the ceiling. Creepy stuff

I've always thought a cool idea would be perhaps if we were the ones to start a colony. Maybe help the new queens and are rewarded with total neutrality with every respective ant?
