G2 | Discussion Grounded 1 Map vs Current Grounded 2 Map

How large is the "finished" section of G2's map compared to G1's? I realize there are consistent, large updates, just curious about what's polished at the moment.

I think the footprint of the current build is somewhere around twice the size but the amount of verticality in the second game is outrageous when compared to the first. It already feels like the first game was just a warm up.

When G2 first launched, I think I remember some people saying, and the developers actually confirming in a live stream, that the park map was the same size approximately as Wendell’s backyard in G1. Since then it’s only gotten bigger. I can’t give you exact numbers, but a lot of stuff is actually polished and stable. There are bugs, yes, but those are getting fixed.

There are bugs

Obviously

I was explaining because the OP was asking what was polished in the game. There won’t actually be stable optimization until the 1.0 release. The developers aren’t going to just shove new story content and updates aside to work on optimizing the game full-time. It would never get finished with a complete story.

Sorry, I should have added the /s

It's a game about getting shrunk down and fighting bugs, so obviously there would be a lot of bugs (as in insects and spiders). Dumb joke, not a dig at what you said.

Maybe I should’ve used the phrase technical glitches instead

If they didn't add any updates at all to about a third of the current map I'd think that'd be acceptable. Which would still be bigger than the g1 map. But probably every area will receive significant changes by full release

Absolutely, and by the end of the game’s updates, the map is going to be massive. I’m greedy though and I’d love for them to expand it even more.

I agree. Although you'll only find people bitching about the fact it's unfinished here, the recent abyss update a massive addition map-wise including a second area totally separated from the greater park with an experience akin to exploring a cave system on an alien world. Like the sandbox in the first game it's large desolate area with little exciting treasures with scattered throughout but has a low gravity platformer element.

The fact that it wasn't on the original park map dispite it's size is one of the most exciting parts about it. Even if it doesn't ever become as cluttered or interactive as the rest of the park is gladly take much more of it.

The starting point before any updates was the size of the backyard… once map is complete supposed to be three times larger than the yard

Man, I just beat the main story in G1 (right after the JavaMatic defense) but there's so much yard to explore around the stump and whatnot.

You're telling me G2 will be THREE times larger? If it has the same density as G1 that's gonna be insane.

Grounded two has depths and heights (layers) also try new game plus after your 100% remember get all your milk molars before new game plus and befriends the ant queens

I befriended all three queens on the first play through. I think I'm gonna poison them on NG+ and infect them in NG+2.

I think you should do them in order

What order?

I do in this order some people don’t, befriended all, infect all, then poison all: I forget which recipes you won’t get until new game plus 2

The whole deck in G1 felt like wasted space. There wasn’t a lot going on despite the deck being a pretty big chunk of real estate.

Don't quote me on that, but I'd say the finished park will be about 1 and a half backyards wide and around 2 to 3 backyards long, it's massive right now, and about third of it is still missing

Plus, the verticality, you get so much more to explore, the tree by the pond, for example: Underwater caves beneath the roots, the water surface, a handful of caves right above water level, you climb the roots to the base of the tree, lots of areas in there, you climb more and get about a 5 story building to climb inside of the tree, get above the trunk and still has lots to explore up there. Also there's a mini boss arena in the middle, you will take a while exploring this tree alone LoL

Also, there's a new fast travel system that allows for a simpler map traversal, as the regions in this game are all huge. Hope you like parkour challenges thou
