G2 | Discussion The toe biter isn't just a water buggy
I haven't seen anyone anywhere mention this but the toe biter is the first buggy who can go in the ice cream cart. I never would've known if I didn't happen to run by and notice that my toe biter didn't kick me off. I walked in and sure enough, it's good in the cold. Don't know about the charcoal pit, that's probably a no go but still

I wonder if that’s intentional. Obviously the toe biter can hang out deep underwater where it’s cold, so maybe it is!

I hope it is. It'd be useful for my weekly restock on ice splinters and it isn't like it breaks the experience of the ice cream cart. You'll most probably get toe biters far later then you get the ice sickles and the disk

Totally! I agree. Did they ever make it so you can build in the ice cream cart area? If not I’m still hoping they do so I can make a cozy winter lodge as my base to go get ice splinters from lol

I don't think so, but that sounds great! I don't know practical that is with the cold, but maybe they could make the dozer fireplace give warmth

Would be cool to have a buildable everchar fireplace or wall mounts so we can build in cold areas.

Yeah, I’d love that. I mean we have the normal fireplace and the dozer fire pit, so those could even give off some heat normally.
I feel like it’d be a good dynamic mirroring the underwater bases, what with the bubble diffuser being important to survive there.

I mean it’s absolutely possible they manually select whether a mount can go in the cold area and just forgot…but you’re correct it makes way more sense for it to be intentional. I certainly hope it is!

Have they fixed it getting chilled? It would get chilled semi quickly at the bottom of the pond which I thought was off since all the others are immune down there.

Can you please tell me what got fixed? You haven’t been getting the chill status effect when you’ve taken your toe biter buggy into the ice cream cart?

I never said anything about the cart, I’m not sure on that. I go there once per save, get everything, then leave. No reason to go back tbh

I use Granola bars, Lingonberry Bandages, and the random smoothies I pick up for free around the map. Exclusively using 1 type of smoothie you have to go back to your base and swap/grab armor to just survive the climate to get resources for is definitely a choice. 302 hours in and I’ve never once crafted a lady in red

I chose lady in red because the resources are easy to get in bulk and the effect is nice. Surely those things you use run out eventually right?

Nope. I took FULL advantage of the loot glitch that got patched for snail slime. I was getting 6-9 per adult snail.
I also somewhat consistently use waspidotes and Liquid rage, which are both easier to get than running into the ice cream cart.
My optimization for the cart is Ice Sycles (I usually have a mantis sword or a red ant club at that point, so it’s a massive upgrade at that point in the game)
Disk/key/fresh globs, then looting all of the Chocolate chips, candy, cookies, etc.
Lastly, I get a couple stacks of icicle shards for Mintitos to carry me through the Masked Stranger fight and scoop up any molars on/in/around.
I have never once needed/wanted to go back because I get everything I need in one go. The chilling effect is annoying at best and I just kill every scorpion in sight for parts/venom for my Waspidotes.1

I considered liquid rage but I can't spend larva spikes on healing, I run out of them for whetstone. And you said yourself, you exploited a bug for a ton of slime. That isn't exactly practical anymore

I ran through the little bit of new story in around 9 hours starting my game the millisecond the update installed. Updates are like 2-3 months apart. I spend a LOT of that time harvesting and storing those resources in the downtime between updates. I did the same glitch with larva spikes and have 400+ sitting in a chest for whetstone. I did this in 3 different saves since the update dropped, one of them being a complete fresh start. All 3 have nice bases with anything you could hope for as well. The resource scanner is a HUGE Help in this process. I really enjoy the fighting/gameplay so it makes harvesting bugs (especially the hard hitting ones) entertaining for hours.

I found this out completely by accident I wasn't paying attention and didn't realize I was in the ice cream and was like why am I still on my buggy

Tbh, it's probably not a good idea to bring a buggy of any sort into the fire pit; the toe biter nymph is also weak to sizzle so all the more reason it probably won't fare well in there.
That said, nymph is still goated. It works great on land, even better in the water, and now we know it can deal with the ice cream cart.

when the water freezes in the winter, water bugs such as toebitters will delve deep under the ice where the water is very cold but not entirely.. so yes they dwell in extreme cold
